Default YAMAHA DTX500...Double bass?

Hi, I have an issue when I do double bass using the standard DTX kick and HI HAT as a bass pedal.

I set both pedals to the same kick, and only leave open hi hat on the hi hat pad. This works well, but there is a problem.

The open hi hat sound gets 'cut off' or inturrupted when I use the hi hat pedal as a bass kick. You can see what I mean here:

Anyone know how to get around this?

I don't have access to a DTX500, but you should check the Hi-hat Alternate group setting in the Kit-14 menu (manual page 29) and set it to 'off '.
If that doesn't work maybe try increasing the HHofs value (up to +32) in the Util-1 menu (page 14) to extend the Hi-hat closing point.
Then just save your new settings.

Good luck!
