Here are a few from a variety of gigs. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th photos are from occasions I had to play a common drum kit in a multiple band situation and being a lefty, and in a hurry to adjust the kits, I had toms and cymbals in weird places, angles and heights. LOL

It's a rare treat for me to get to perform with a great jazz pianist on an unmiked grand piano.
Here's a shot from a trio gig earlier this week.

Wonderful picture, & I love your kit setup. Snare to the right in floor tom position - interesting :) Great reflection off the brick wall too. I bet the sound was vibrant.

Thanks! I've been using a 5x14 snare in floor tom position (with throwoff, snares etc removed from the drum) and a micro-timbale snare in the rack tom position (also with snare mechanism removed) for the past couple of years with small groups and love the character
of the sound, especially the usefulness of the micro-timbale which I have tuned to act as
a tom (when played between the lugs, near the rim) yet still provide a timbale crack for latin
tunes. I prefer this sound for the gigs I get. The sound off the bricks was great. We played at a whisper with very quiet brushes and all was balanced and heard. When the piano was played
harder I didn't have to slack off with the sticks at all...we dug in..FUN!

Not Cedar! It's Donnie who happens to love Cedar's playing. Donnie had his own trios in NYC
in the 1950's and became the house pianist in the LA Playboy Club (nice gig, eh?) in the
1960's. He is an extraordinary jazz artist and it is a great honor to get to play with him.

LOL, well... It was this band's first gig at a dive bar. My drums took up a good chunk of the stage and before I had my cymbal stands set up the Ampeg 810 hemmed me in on the right. I had to get creative with my (not seen) 21" Zildjian Sweet Ride on the far right. Then there was a 414 cab to my left front that I managed to shimmy between to make sure I would not have to die in a fire, and I could go grab a glass of water. Not the ideal situation to be sure.

My band playing last sat. The kit was not mine but in case anyone wants to know its a stage custom. The amps, drum kit, and fake snake were back lined which was convenient.

My surf band played at the Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum as part of their "Surfin' Sundays" series this past weekend.

Here's me driving the bus.

A view from the drum chair.

We normally play as a five piece, but on this occasion we had another guitarist and a keyboard player with us. The extra guitarist was Bob Spickard from The Chantays. That's him on the far left.

Thanks Zickos, no I just dropped out of that band and the other 2 projects I'm in are nowhere near the gigging stage.

I do look like death in that photo though. Here's a brighter one.

First gig playing a cajon last week. My hands weren't quite up to the task and got quite bruised during the leadup rehearsals, but then I found that really heavy plastic rods sounded absolutely fantastic, at least in the "simulated drum kit" way that I played it:

That said, playing with those rods did make me look somewhat like I was... erm... doing something else entirely.

Open mic debut of my side project. The bass player is only 15. I wanted to show off my new stealth racks but another guy brought 3 more cymbal stands to add to my kit after I set up so the tripods don't belong there. Hard to see from this angle but I added a 12 inch rack tom next to the 14.

Default Pit Orchestra Set Up

This is my set up for an upcoming musical, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. My wife and I will be playing it for 16 performances and 3 previews in four weeks. What a lot of fun.
