Luckily I didn't get hurt, We got rid of the horse shortly after that and I never owned a horse again. I still like horses though.
Being bolted with is terrifying. One of the reasons I bought Charlie is because he'd rather stop than go.

I hear you. That's the kind of horse a person can appreciate when they are just hobby riders. I think I'd prefer a Charlie over a Copper any day of the week.

I was about nine years old, at the local riding school where I'd been having lessons for a couple of years. I was quite competent and knew how to control a horse and had experience of them bucking and generally misbehaving. I'm in the indoor school - which isn't very big - trotting around on a horse called Jasper that I was very fond of. Suddenly, a bird flies right in front of Jasper's face and he bolts.

I managed to cling on for about ten yards before I came off. It hurt. A lot. Nothing broken but my arm had stuck out (for some reason) when he bolted and my arm had scraped along the top of a wall... so that was painful. Got back on and carried on with the lesson after ten minutes or so but it was scary having a horse bolt on you.

This is Charlie. He's in disguise here in case anybody recognises him. The gate never stood a chance.

It only stayed on for five minutes. He said it made him look like a terrorist :)

By the way, James, if you did FB you'd know who he was.

Kissable.

Those eyes! The night's in his eyes,
Galaxies of bright star sparkles.
Beautiful like mornin skies
More beautiful when he strides

Beautiful darkness in his eyes,
When he throws his mane off his shoulder,
He canters into night
It makes makes the moon colder.

I see a story of me in his eyes
In which I'm a shiny armor wearing hero
I fight, and win him as prize
Or die in his saddle as my pillow.

Aydee, that's beautiful, and perfect for Charlie who thinks he's the biggest, bravest destrier that ever lived. He'll love it - thank you.

And you're right: he does lovely kisses.

That's made my day. A good outcome for you, after weeks of worry that you didn't need.

The cops shut our gig down tonight at 9:30pm. We only got to play one set and a 4 song encore after the break because they told us we could only play until 9:30. It was real fun though. Thirteen people on one stage. It was like an orchestra of guitars (6), two female singers, a mandolin player, a banjo player, a harmonica player, a bassist and me on the drums. This is one band where I can actually say that I like playing the original songs better than the cover songs. This was also the first time I played a gig with three different bands in one year. I guess we all have our milestones. Now I need to go for four in one year!

That does sound like fun, and not overly fatiguing if you finished at 9:30, Bon ;)

Ya, thanks Henri....I think. ;)

I'm not part of this clique, btw. I'm just your friendly, neighborhood troll they've sorta gotten used to.

It was great, Madge. We had people standing up on their feet dancing. Now that tells you that you're doing a good job. At one point everybody got up! Just like a standing ovation. I wish we could have played a whole show, fatigued or not.

My name is Linda, and I was sitting in the waiting room for my first appointment with a new dentist.

I noticed his DDS diploma on the wall, which bore his full name. Suddenly, I remembered a tall, handsome, dark-haired boy with the same name had been in my high school class some 50-odd years ago.

Could he be the same guy that I had a secret crush on, way back then?

Upon seeing him, however, I quickly discarded any such thought.

This balding, gray-haired man with the deeply lined face was way too old to have been my classmate.

After he examined my teeth, I asked him if he had attended Lawton high school.

Yes. Yes, I did. I'm a Wolverine,' he gleamed with pride.

When did you graduate?' I asked.

He answered, 'in 1962. Why do you ask?'

'You were in my class!' I exclaimed.

He looked at me closely. Then, that ugly, old, balding, wrinkled faced, fat-assed,
gray-haired, decrepit s-o-b asked - 'What did you teach?'

So I'm in Houston, visiting family and friends, and Sunday night at Shakespeare Pub is the blues jam, with Spare Time Murray and the Honeymakers.

Back when I lived here, twelve years ago, I'd go there every Sunday night to sit in, and it was great. I knew everybody, I got to play blues all night and I could play the harp, too.

So tonight I'm going back. I didn't bring my stick bag, but I don't care; I'll use what sticks are there. I've been mentally brushing up on the Texas shuffle; no problemo amigo.

It's been a pretty long time since I've played with a real good band, and tonight I'm jumping headfirst into playing with some pretty damn good players. I must admit that I'm nervous.

Yea, Grea, what a tour de force personality she's been.

A rebel with a million causes, an uncompromising painter, a consumate musician, a powerful social commentator, brilliant songwriter, a folk hero to an entire generation who had the respect of the jazzers and someone who has lived her life fiercely on her own terms.

I've kind of grown up with her music as a constant alongside everything else that I ever listened to over the years.

Porky Pie hat was a great song. Very controversial album. The music industry didnt know what to make of it. Some jazzers scoffed, but didnt know at the time that Mingus had been wanting to do something with her for quite a while.

I love so many of her tunes,,, black crow, furry sings the blues, drycleaner from des moines, amelia always makes me cry.. I love her open tunings, the sound of her guitar, her cigarette flavored voice....

Its obvious that I love her, isnt it. : ))))

Worrying myself sick about my younger daughter, the one in Singapore. The honeymoon period has worn off and, as the only European, she feels very isolated. It's par for the course and we expected it, but the spin-off is that she hasn't been doing her insulin (she's Type 1 diabetic). I'm a wreck.
