Yeah that's good stuff although it does seem a bit of a shame about the state of affairs in terms of divorce these days.

Jesus christ and all I got for christmas was two shirts, shoes, and some pants. I guess this economy isn't screwing everybody lol.

Nice set-up though dude, Warlords are sick. I bet you can get a groove on those things and love it.

It's hard to not practice to be honest, due to my very flexible school schedule, i'm able to practice 4-6 hours a day. So yeah that's (hopefully) in the realm of possibility.
So, when do you work?

Nice kit and awesome playing, big mars-volta and at the drive-in fan too.
Just the bubinga wood with the name "warlord" on it is a bit cynical...

I work (if you can call it that) as the house drummer at a local new thought church. And since their able to pay me I'm able to stay afloat (due to my lack of expenses). And so I only have go to "work" on Sunday mornings and a rehearsal on Thursdays.

An added perk is that my Dad is the bass player there so we get to jam together a lot!

Where is the rest of the kit. :) I really liked that kit when it came out. The lugs must be a pain to keep clean though. Very nice.

Amazing kit, just plain amazing. I've been looking at those pictures for like ten minutes now (seriously). Congrats.

Oh, and in the last pic I see you have a K Custom resting on the floor.. it looks like it's bothering and taking space.. mmm.. no... ugly, ugly.. you may even trip over it and fall.. mmm.. :/

You know what? Don't worry, I'll take it. Check your mailbox, I'm sending you the money for shipment.

LOL :)

Cheers.

I realize it's a bit small by your standards but there she be in her glory. Lots more pics on page 1. The lugs aren't bad, a feather duster can get in there pretty well so it's all good.

AWESOME looking kit!
Literally the same cymbal set up as mine (only I'm using XS20's and Agean cymbals, but the Zildjians are exact!)

Your YouTube videos are also incredible!
The kit I got when I was 15 (which I am right now) was my 8 piece Meridian Maple! LOVE IT! Though I did have enough money for a Tama B/B but I wanted to buy other stuff too :)

That's a killer kit and it sounds awesome!

Congrats man!

Wow, to have a kit of that calibre at 17 is exceptional. Your Dad is a bass player and your Step Dad owns the Oil Sand project? lol just kidding, you lucky guy, here is what I had at 17

Cool kit. I wish I could be the kind of Dad to my daughter that you have. I just can't get her to get "into" it. She's only 8, so I still have some time, but I'll happily do for my kid what your family is doing for you if I get the chance. I'm anticipating it.

My mom and step dad (who finally seems to be supporting me by doing more than just putting up with alllllll the racket) bought me a wonderful Zildjian Avedis Sweet Ride 21" and I must say, that is the dream ride cymbal sound I've always had in my head (for a crashable ride). Its wonderfully diverse.

My best friend and roommate went and got me a wicked little 12" Wuhan china that is the perfect cymbal for quick trashy accents. It's much better than my Max Stax by a mile. I have it similar to Gavin Harrisons 12" china placement and I've been having fun doing alternating china patterns (now i have 3 of 'em).

And my Pops (whom I truly love very dearly) and his girlfriend went and paid for part of my brand spanking new Pearl Demon Drive Double Pedals. (They just came in today and i picked 'em at late this evening so I'm still dialing them in). The DD's are by far the best pedals I've played so far, in all my 16 years of playing. Super customizable and the Z-Link is outta this world. I literally cant feel any difference between my right and left pedals. No lag what so ever. Its like Pearl designed a custom set of pedals for me.

I also filmed a quick video giving a short tour of my kit so you can get a better idea of how I have it set-up. As soon as it's up on youtube I'll post the link here for those that are interested.

Alright so enough yapping, here's some pics! (also I've updated the specs at the bottom of the page)

-Jonathan

I love my Sweet Ride! I got that on my birthday last year, amazing!

Hah! Let's start a Tama Warlord Masai Owners Club! I just got this kit last weekend (se 72!). I was totally blown away by the amount of tone and sound it produces. Absolutely amazing! And it just looks bad-ass! I fell in love, had to have it... :)

Those are standard Pearl quick releases which are supplied with the 1000 and 2000 range stands and boom arms.

Wow. It's funny seeing those pics from 3 years ago, my setup has changed so much!! I'm basically playing this as a four piece nowadays! (22/10/16/12 snare)

I'll post some updated pictures this coming week when I have time.

Default Re: UPDATES

As fun as it is playing this monstrosity in its full form, majority of the time I have it as a 4-piece so I can get my ride in a better spot. Pics ahead!

Specs:
-22x18" Bass Drum
-12x5" Gavin Signature Snare (Not the protean obviously)
-10x8" Tom sometimes replaced by the 12x9" depending on my mood
-16x14" Floor
-13" K Hats
-20" Oriental China Trash
-20" Oriental Crash of Doom
-20" A Custom Medium Ride
-21" A Sweet Ride used mostly as a crash
-Meinl Brushed Steel Cowbell. This thing slays. Such a great cowbell. If you hit the edge you'll get all the cut you need to get through a wall of metal guitars, and playing the top gives you enough sensitivity to blend seamlessly into any latin rythym.

I'm extremely jealous... Love the kit!

Looks a lot like my setup (curved ICON, similar cymbal setup, similar booms and everything...).

New band with the same rhythm guitarist, only now he's the lead guitarist!
My new band is called "Illusive Man" and it's similar-ish only much heavier and more on the technical side at the moment.

There is still just 3 Warlord Masai kits in Canada....

I just bought the one in Calgary.

The previous owner will hopefully find solace in the fact that it went to a serious Tama enthusiast and collector.

It will be well taken care of and cherished.

That's awesome!! I've always had a dream of buying a second kit so that I could build a double kick set-up.

Welcome to the family brother. :)
