That telescoping snare arm is beefy. It is cradling a not so light super solid snare. I don't think an edge would be an issue.

I thought the same until I spoke to DW directly. The guy I spoke to told me the guy that designed the snare baskets didn't think that it would be able to support it. With the way my rack is designed, I think it would be in my best to build a stable snare basket to keep my rack from wobbling with the added weight. Don't get me wrong, it's rock solid as is but if I suspend a 27lb snare from an arm with no base, it could definitely cause some stability issues.

your DW kit made my jaw drop...your photoshoot outside is sick. how much did the kit alone cost? I love the blue on the shells, absolutely beautiful.

Thank you! I bought a 6-piece shell pack that consisted of the kick, four toms, and 6x14 maple snare for $3500 shipped. The cymbals, hardware, and additional snares were added expenses and I honestly have not fully calculated the total cost for everything because I've purchased it over a period of 2 years.

I don't know. It's slightly heavier than my 14x6 vlt snare. My SS snare isn't the thick 3/4" version, so it isn't as heavy as the edge. The telescoping arm is really sturdy.

Hi

As my friend Jeff suggested, thereīs no problem at all placing an Edge snare on a rack attached arm (all DW hardware). I play one quite often, and you can pound as hard as you can...Very stable.

Greetings
Gustavo

What can you tell us about your drum rug?

Do you have photos of your kit set up with your rack? I have been thinking about a DW rack more and more lately.

This is my black ice kit. It's not an impressive finish. It's rather dull and is a warm black with a green hue.
Comparatively, my local drum shop has a Galaxy sparkle kit.
It's still in the black family but the finish is much deeper and looks more expensive.

Black Galaxy finish ply has larger sparkle flakes with more variation. Looks more expensive in person.

I agree with your opinion on the black ice finish. It is not impressive...My local shop has a black ice kit that has been on the showroom floor since 2007. That is a finish you would want to see in person before purchasing to be sure you like it. It's not ugly by any means though.

What prompted your decision to go with black ice?

I bought it used because the specs were perfect for my preferences. I needed a kit to play out with to take some abuse while I keep my exotic kit all safe and showroom shiny.

That's the advantage of Black Ice, it can take a bit of beating while remaining glorious under the lights.

This is my one of a kind DW Prototype Oak Stave kit!
Sounds huge, is quite heavy, but oh, so cool!
The hoops on the bass drum is maple.
It's very cool that the shells are scoped out, the re-rings are a part of the shells!
