Default Pearl Selected Wood Series

Found a 14x5.5" Pearl snare and it said "Selected wood series" on the badge. They want $50, I thought about buying it but didn't really get to try it. It was laquered maroon red in color almost like mahogany. What's the verdict on these little snares?
1) Pearl Masters BRX Vintage Sunburst
2) PDP FS Cherry Fade

Sabian AA, Meinl Byzance, Zildjian K

I had a couple before. One came with my last pearl export kit. It was liquid Amber in color. Those drums sound pretty decent, but nothing spectacular. They're made out of poplar. The ones that I owned were from the late 90's/very early 2000's. At $50, it's not a bad deal, but it's also not a big score. They remind me of the cheaper Sensitone 8 lug snares, but a little dryer due to the rougher wood plys. They look pretty good though. Here's a pic of my last one:
