I am not going to post in that thread about the damned commercial. I wanted to rant, but I would've been waving their banner to chime in there, so I ranted here :)

Anywho....Here's to a great week!

Even when there are no witnesses, it's embarrassing to find that the dog you were talking to is, in fact, your boots.

I frequently trip over my boots and blame the dogs. The fact that I'm wearing them...

The boots. Not the dogs. There is no need for fur at this time of year.

Wooo!! The Welsh Junior Rugby Union team have just made it to the final of the World Cup after beating the reigning champions, South Africa, in the last 90 seconds!

I found out I got a bargain on a vinyl record. This makes me happy. I paid about half of what it was actually worth. Another vinyl I got for about ten GBP less than the 'going' rate. Apparently I'm good at buying records!

Paradise Lost, Lacuna Coil and Katatonia are all playing together in England in October.

Further proof that Europe gets all the good shows, while we're stuck with 1000 sound alikes on this side of the pond.

The reason I don"t like to watch storm-chaser videos is all the hyped shouting they do when they finally spot a tornado.

What a silly question! No, but here's a funny ass commercial warning women about going in the ocean when it's that time of month. Pretty realistic.

That's funny!

Re swan: isn't it common knowledge in the USA that a swan can break your arm? Over here, it's the sort of thing that mothers tell their children, and I just wondered if anybody had ever heard of it really happening.

I've always wondered what it would be like to travel with the circus. A major rock band's tour has nothing for gear compared to these guys... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kklTo...A4EDCA95A3A355

Never heard about the swan. We have some relocated, non-migratory Canadian Geese here in Arkansas (mid-south for those who don't live in the States), and those dudes will swarm and attack if they think you have food.

I've never heard that one in my life!

I used to feed the swans at the park as a little child. I'd have been terrified if my mother had told me that!

It's an absolute classic in the UK to the point of parody.

Got all the bands booked for the reception. I the true tradition of 2 musicians of different cultures coming together we have booked:

A bagpiper for the ceremony
Mariachis for the cocktail hour
A Dixieland Jazz band for the reception

Gonna be quite the shindig.

In Australia we have numerous dangerous creatures that can kill you - funnel web and redback spiders, various killer snakes, sharks including the white pointer, the box jellyfish, drop bears and the deadly blue-ringed octopus.

Never mind a single warning about wimpy swans or whatever ... for Aussies, every day is a struggle to survive under this assault of hostile wildlife, not to mention the regular bushfires, floods and droughts. Not to mention the crushing poverty endemic to the colonies.

But don't let that turn you guys off from holidaying out here! On the plus side, we don't have many bagpipers, although at one job I was on the 22nd floor and there were a couple of them making a racket in the street that could be clearly heard. I'd rather take my chances with the spiders ;-)

Now you're just showing off.

When you come over in October, as well as keeping a safe distance away from the swans, watch out for hedgehogs. That's pretty much as dangerous as it gets here in terms of wild animals.

Or the wild Duncan. He's known to find you, take you into pubs and force you to drink. That's dangerous. Australians are particularly vulnerable.

If you sneak into the park late at night you can find clandestine groups of swans working their Wing Chung Techniques.

You have it pretty rough.

My neighborhood is next to a huge state park and nature preserve.
So my area is full of coyotes. So we put up a coyote fence to keep them out of our yard (having dogs and small children).

OK, so then all the neighborhood mice and gophers realized our yard was a safe haven since the coyotes can't easily get to them.

So we had to get a small terrier dog to chase away all the rodents.

But he also went after a skunk the other morning and got sprayed.

Such is the circle of life in my back yard.

This simply doesn't happen in God's Own Country.

In Arkansas we have water moccasins, copperheads, three varieties of rattle snake, and coral snakes; brown recluse and black widow spiders (both of these are EVERYWHERE); punk teenager fake wannabe gang-bangers with access to guns; and worst of all, the ever elusive skunk ape!
