Agree Watso. The original sentiments are can be seen as based on logic but are most likely said with clichés or superstition in mind.

Having said that, I'm fine with people uttering inanities after someone dies. Hardly anyone knows what to say so it's really just a vague gesture of support. I'd rather them give me mindless clichés than to throw rocks.

I think most people just say "I'm sorry".

"Huh? That's ok. What did you do?"

I think Crown is the Fosters we keep in Australia. Then we put the dregs in Fosters cans and send them overseas. PFOG can no doubt clarify.

No - Jagermeister tastes like transmission fluid.

If you read read the same way as read you'd be mistaken,
But if read was read as read, it'd sound just like it was said.

Amazing how Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" still holds up as a quintessential metal album all these later.

Agreed. Much as 'Number of the Beast' by Iron Maiden and 'Reign in Blood' by Slayer still hold up, as does 'Ride the Lightning'. I always though 'Master of Puppets' was better but I can see the merits of both!

Rather sad each album features a player who is no longer alive.

Well, as a teenager I listened to a lot of music that I would rarely admit I listened to now. Those are the three exceptions! Ian, I think this might be a watershed moment...

It is sad. The bizarre thing is that none of them died from what you might consider 'excess' or Rock 'n' Roll clichés. A tragic accident and two chronic illnesses - one more drawn out than the other. The passing of time I suppose but no less upsetting.

I don't know, I might have to go put on some Rush now before you get all teary eyed.

Every once in a while, you hear a song lyric on the radio that perfectly sums up your day. Like just now: "I'm goin' down, goin' down like a monkey. Ooh, but it's alright."

Thanks, Phil Collins.

Many congratulations, I hope you both have a lovely day x

Actually, Andy, this should be in a separate thread, shouldn't it? It's a bit too special to go in "Random Thoughts", surely?

Awesome! We had ours last year. My wife is truly the best thing that ever happened to me, and that was no more evident than dealing with my health issues this past year. She certainly lived up to her part of the deal when we said "in sickness and in health".

How's things going? Did you see the Bruins pull off a miracle last night? If they can do what they did, then anything is possible!

Good stuff, Andy! I could insert a crude comment here but it'd probably be taken out of context and used against me at a later date!

Yeah, that's a test the doctors want to do to guys our age. At least there was some pampering involved.

I'm just back from taking Mrs. con struct to the airport. She's going home to England for three weeks. Three weeks of rattling around alone in this house. It's depressing. Already I don't know what to do with myself.

Sigh.

Three weeks - that's a long time.

Mr Madge works in Sweden for two weeks every month. We can tolerate being away from each other for one week at a time (I take the opportunity to invite my best friends round for dinner and plenty of alcohol, which is rather fun) but I go with him for the second week so that at least he has a proper meal on the table and somebody to talk to in the evening.

I'm there now, watching internet TV and reading DW, and wondering who ate all the Haribo.

Ugh.

I've been having this thought recently that maybe I'm glad my music career crashed and burned. The thought of being away from my wife kids for weeks at time is unbearable. I don't know how people do it.

I think the flight from here to there and back takes about three weeks, doesn't it?

I must say, it's tempting, though.
