Default 2 x line-ins and 2 x headphone outs?

Hi all
Wondered if anyone could help me on this one:
In my teaching studio I want to be able to mix the line outputs of my DTX module and laptop (playing mp3 or CD play-along tracks) and have 2 pairs of headphones listening to the combine output (ie.myself and the student).
Most small mixers only seem to have 1 x headphone socket and most compact headphone amps only seem to have 1 single input. I have some across this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...ter_Mixer.html
Will this do the job? I don't think the line-in levels will be a problem but I'm concerned that, being passive, the headphone level will be too low.
Any thoughts?

Thanks
Martin

Seems like you should break the problem down and get 2 devices, a line mixer and a headphone amp. You can get a 4 channel headphone amp for like $20 or $30.

On my DTXplorer kit I have an AUX in, and I will make the assumption yours has the same thing.

If it were me, (and I just tried this on my DTXplorer so I know it works) I would run the Laptop into the DTX, adjust the balance using the AUX IN volume (Laptop volume) and the DTX volume. Run a 1/4" TRS to 1/4" mono TS splitter cable from the Left and Right outputs on your DTX to a Behringer HA4700 headphone amp (or similar, its just what I have).

The two mono ends go in the "Left Out" and "Right Out" of the DTX. The stereo end (TRS or Tip Ting Sleeve) goes into the "Direct In" on the front of the HA4700. Then up to 4 people can listen in and have their own volume bass and treble controls.

Hmm. I always distrust set-ups like this if you opt for a 'no mixing board' approach, just because you'll be dealing with different levels on the lines. For such a simple set-up, I would suggest a little Behringer mixer (sub-$80) and adding a small headphone amp. ART makes a small headphone amp like the box you pictured that I bought for $50. So, a small investment, but you'll have separate control of all the line levels, which I think is the best solution.

Thanks for your help guys. I am very limited in terms of space and power sockets in my studio so I'm looking for the most compact way possible to achieve this. Ideally I'd like to have the whole set-up (lap-top, mixer/headphone amp) mounted onto my DTX rack (RS500).
Have any of you heard of Alto mixers, like this one? http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/recor...ixer.html#info
How about that with just a headphone splitter cable?

I saw those at NAMM this year. I didn't get a chance to hear one, but that would work. The only problem with a headphone splitter is that both of you will have the same volume, so if the two of you can live with that, you're good!
