My Collector's Maple drums. 5x8, 5x10, 6x12, 6x13, 16x18 BD and 6.5x13" SD. Ruby Glass with Mirror Chrome bass drum hoops. There are other drums lurking in this setup that are slated to be replaced in the next few months with 11x13" and 14x16" floor toms and a 14x23" bass drum.

Perhaps I'll throw down for a decent digital camera and put up some better pics when all of it comes together.

Thanks! I really wanted to but I was pressed for time and had to hurry to get the kit back in my house. I'm planning on taking the full kit outside at some point. When I do, drum solo time! ;)

WOW! What a stunning finish! Just gorgeous! Love that the logo on the kick head matches the drum finish.

Thanks Larry! Believe it or not, that picture was not planned. It just turned out that way.

Just wondering: why are you keeping the tom mount on your rack tom? if you have it on a stand, then you really don't need it.

If you go back to the previous page and look at the full set, he's using the tom mount so maybe just a matter of preference using the stand on the smaller setup.

I left the tom mount on there because I set it up as a 4 piece merely for pics. I typically play a 2 up 2 down setup.

That's a great looking snare! I've been intrigued by those. How do you like the 8x14 size?

It's a great snare.................a lot more versatile than I thought it would be.

Put 42-strand wires on it a few months ago and it is really sensitive now.

IMO, for around $300 new, you can't find much better

I may have to check one of those out. I already have 5 snares though...not sure I need a 6th. ;)

I've seen that kit. I bet that 26" kick sounds amazing!!! Have you made any recordings with it?

BTW, I too love the twisted look. I also like the black nickel hardware with the twisted white silk. Great finish combo!

No recordings yet. Trying to put a band together now. Ya know how LONG that takes. LOL! Just got some recording equipment but still need a good set of mics.

My advice would be to save up for some good quality mics. I saved up and got 5 x Shure Beta 98A D/C mics for my toms, 2 x Beta 57As and 2x SM 57s for my snares, Beta 52A for my kick, and 2 x Audio-Technica AT2035 for my overheads. Truly some of the best mics I've ever used. I think if you start with good equipment, you will spend less time in a DAW eq'ing the snot out of everything. ;)

I'll certainly keep that in mind. Still figuring out the software before I start recording anything as well.

Pic taken a couple of days ago. The 28" kick with the matching woofer is hard to see as it's behind the stack of naturals on the right hand side of the pic. I just can't get enough of these DW's!!!

Whats up fellow drummers!...

Just received my add-on tom for my DW Satin Oil Cherry set.. and am "maybe" over tripping about the colour not being perfectly matched.. hmm.. the thing is I live in Aruba and its not that easy to have a sample drum sent to DW for them to match it.. so I took high resolution pictures and sent them to my dealer to have them send to DW.. the add-on is lighter in colour and not as glossy (if Im using the right word for it).. please tell me if I'm overreacting or not.. and if I can apply something to the add-on to darken it a bit more to match the rest of the set.. my dealer told me I can apply a layer of tung oil to the add-on..

first pic: left drum is the add-on drum
second pic: add-on drum
third pic: original

please let me know what you think!..

Oh.. and btw.. I hope this is the right thread to post in.. if not.. please advise where to post ?

Thanks again!..

I personally think you're overreacting there. The toms look great, nobody will see the difference but you. Also, it is very difficult to get two toms to look exactly the same when the grain of the wood is different... Oftentimes, and most times, the bass drum will be very different from the 10", just because of the line of production... wood is natural and you have a beautiful instrument that is top sounding and top looking. So stop worrying and start enjoying... Cheers my friend!

@ drum_aruba..
The only noticeable difference I see is in the wood grain and it's very slight.
Put it in your kit and stand back. I bet you won't even notice.

The outer ply is stained, & a stain takes differently to each ply depending on a range of factors. Also, your add on drum will change it's hue over time, so don't be in a rush to make alterations. TBH, as a later photo match, I think they did a pretty good job.
