Shorten Chain On Gibraltar Avenger

I have a Gibraltar Avenger Double Beater. I want to bring up the pedal so that it has a greater angle at rest. I figured you'd have to shorten the chain. Does anyone have a recommendation? I called Gibraltar and the guy said he had never heard of anyone wanting to do that. I'm just looking for a little input because when I blindly mess with things like this they break :(

I get what you mean. If all the other adjustments are just right, but you want more angle on the foot board, the only way to get it is with a shorter chain (or strap), so that's what I did.

At the front of the pedals foot board, if there are two small screws holding the chain (where it meets the foot board), take those out, move the link up one or two, and reinstall the screws.
The chain will have a little "bulge" from the links, but it will not affect the chain, or the pedal performance.

I did this almost 10 years ago with the chain on my 3 Eliminator pedals, and I never had any issues at all. I could play as hard as I wanted, and the chain was not affected.

Here's a pic that shows the links moved up. There's a little bulge, and a "second row" of chain. I think this was moved up 2 links.



I use the Blue Pearl Elim. Strap on those pedals now, but, I shortened the straps as well :-)
