Default Yamaha PHX floortom legs

Are the floortomlegs in Yamahas PHX series the same as in the other series or are they different?

Default Re: Yamaha PHX floortom legs

I have a PHX . . . The Oak Custom shares the same leg mount . .. probably others in the high end yammie family . . . although I don't consider the Oak Customs as high end Yamaha ... The mounts on the floor toms are like the YESS mounts of the 90's. They are grooved all the way up . . . and thin. The floor tom legs on the PHX "seem" flimsy compared to my rock solid DW Collectors. It seems they were going for a suspension system that allows for maximum shell vibration . . .

I did note that the Club Custom has a much more traditional mount.

Flimsy as it feels when you are setting it up . . . it holds rock solid and like most Yamaha hardware . . . once you make that twist to lock it . . . you rarely ever have to do it again.
