Default Mandala mk2.9

Anyone played/own the Mandala mk2.9?

I'm tempted to get one now that they've improved the playing surface and software and I'm curious to hear feedback from someone who has actually played one.

Thanks!

Never used one, but from what I've read (mainly surrounding Danny Carey interviews), they're a bitch to setup and configure.

Nope - don't have one, but I looked into them before getting my Yamaha and Roland units.

They've got some fantastic features, but I don't like the fact that they're totally computer-dependent.
Without the computer, you've essentially got an expensive practice pad.

I have one. And it's true, you need a computer to run it. If that's not your thing, then I'd suggest moving on.

However, I'll say that the mandala can do infinitely more that I can. There are so many perimeters you can use that you can take a usually mundane sound (like a simple tom hit, etc) and turn it into something that sounds out of this world. It's really tough to describe it.

I really like mine, but I have barely scratched the surface of what it can do. If you have the funds (and the patience) I'd say try it. It can really expand your musical pallet.
