I'm not going to lie, I don't think i will ever buy another kit that isn't a Ludwig. Just got an early 80's classic maple kit, and its unreal!! Next on the to-get-list is Vistalites!!! Those are wicked!

So 12 years after selling my last Ludwig Super Classic kit from 93' I bought another off Craigslist today!!! I can't tell you how stoked I am! My original was a 6 piece kit consisting of 8", 10", 12", 14", 16" with an 18" x 20" kick all virgin toms and kick on RIMS with Blue wraps. The kit I bought today has a 12", 13", 16". 18" and 24" kick. Not sure of the depth but it's what I would call an arena kit. In other words deep as hell. In fact I had to raise my throne by about 4" to accomodate the size difference. The shells are laquer stained a green color that almost looks teal in the sunlight. Sorry for the poor quality picture I'll post better later.

This kit is a 97' and while I'm not a big fan of the Bonham sizes (especially for gigging) it sounds FANTASTIC! I don't know why they quit making this 4 ply maple masterpiece..

By the way the ride tom is a 12"....... Frickin HUGE!

Anyway it's cool being in in the club again!

The only picture I have left of the original kit.

Better picture of finish

New kit with Cymbals.

Old Zyldjian A's
14" New Beats
15" Medium Thin
16" Medium... (pretty brassy)
18" Medium Thin
20" Medium Ride
12" Wuhan China

Pro Mark Natural Hickory sticks 5a nylon tip

The hardware is pretty much all Sound Percussion double braced.

The snare is a 69 Supraphonic.

Kick pedal is a Cobra

The HH stand is a Yamaha that was good in its day but is a pos now. I'm planning to get a DW 5000 which will suit me fine.

Here's my newest kit, a 7 piece set of Ludwig Centennials in green sparkle lacquer. It's my first Ludwig kit. Apart from a few problems upon receiving the kit (everything's been set straight though), I am really loving these drums! PS. I know the red kit is not Ludwig, but I could resist; grandpa bought my 2 year old son his first drum kit yesterday for his birthday :)

I love this thread. Mainly because I just got a new custom kit from Ludwig. There are some beauties on here and I hope you like these.

8X12, 9x13, 16x16, 6.5x14, 18x22

I was glad I got the Weathermaster coated heads - the 1-ply really sounds great on the toms. They were delivered to Drum City and Guitarland in 6 weeks.

Do these qualify me for the fan club?

Vintage 70's luddy 3pc mated with the same snare

Couple more photos of my kits. The Black Diamond Pearl is actually a 4pc but I play it in a 3pc reduction. I've added "Gull Wing" kick drum spurs to it recently because I can't stand the disaster that luddy used for the stock bent rectangle barstock spurs.

I've played quite a few kits, but never parted with my first Ludwig set.....

1976 Ludwig 9 piece "Power Factory", 3 ply maple shells with "Silver Satin" finish and Ludwig Silver Dot clear heads. While the base color lacks sparkle, the glossy silver takes on a variety of colors when stage lit. Built and played in the USA.

24" Bass drum
6 1/2" x 14" Supra-Phonic chrome Snare
Six concert (a.k.a. melodic) tom toms:
10"
12"
13"
14"
15"
16"
18" Floor tom
Ludwig 312 double pedal / 1970's Speed King pedal
Ludwig Hercules hardware (for the most part).

Yes, snare is in awesome shape. Only pitting at all is on a couple of cymbal stands.....and the feet (Some of the hardware is Ludwig Atlas, but some is Ludwig Hercules which has metal "swivel" feet instead of rubber boots. Over the years, the feet picked up some rust.

Thanks!

Yeah, best snare I ever owned. I have others, but this one beats them all (to me).

Here's a couple of Ludwig kits I've owned in the past. I don't own one at the moment, but I'm pricing out new Classic and Legacy kits and hope to have one ordered by week's end.

The silver kit are 1989 Rockers and the black diamond pearl kit are 1965 Super Classics. I wish I hadn't sold them. Oh well....

This is a picture from seventies I guess, seventies hair style and trousers. Is that you on the picture? Are the floor toms 16" and 18", or 14" and 16"?

Appears as if though I had not uploaded new pictures of my 1970s Black Cortex Ludwigs since I've moved twice since the last (single) picture I uploaded of them.

1976-1978
14x22, 9x13, 16x16, 16x18 (also have an 8x12 and 10x14 that are in cases).
Snares: 1970 5x14 Supra; 2009 6.5x14 Supra (also a 5x12 USA Pork Pie and a ddrum Zak Brown Band 5x14 my sister gave me from the Chicago Drum Show auction/raffle).
