Default Remo 10" practice pad, WAY too loud

Has anyone else tried this practice pad? Playing 16th singles with what I'd call average power measured around 80db with my android app. How could anyone possibly stand the noise that this pad makes? I don't wanna have to use ear protection while practicing...

I guess I'm looking for recommendations here. Which are the most quiet/best practice pads?

This sounds like one of the pads with the grey rim and the white head, right? Those are terrible practice pads, IMO. I think they provide very poor feel, and they are definitely louder than others (80 db seems high though). However they are relatively cheap, so they sell really well.

I would recommend a rubber practice pad like the HQ RealFeel or the Vic Firth pads. There are many other brands and sizes, so I'd suggest checking out others. These are just the ones I have a lot of experience with.

Yep, that's the one. And yes, the rebound and feel is poor. I will look for the HQ or VF pads, think I'll have to try them before I buy though. Thanks.

Yes, I own a Remo pad. Yes, they are incredibly loud. No, I never use the thing anymore either because of it.

Agree. Check out any of the gum rubber pads. They're a hell of a lot quieter.
