Default Inside bass drum micing.

I'm using a Sennheiser E602 which I wrap in a blanket, (advisedly to subdue the unwanted boomy sound through the active sub-woofer). Clearly, the output sound depends mostly on the acoustic bass drum sound but even when I de tension to reduce the overtones, I'm still not getting that solid deep (unringy) noted sound that really anchors the band.( EQ4 batter, EQ1 reso).

Try taking the blanket off the mic and place lay it so its touching the batter and reso head to muffle them a tad.

Spend $50 and get a Kelly Shu. Works wonders.
