Default New DW 9000 Pedals Coming

I noticed that some retailers have dropped the price of the current DW 9002 pedals to 499. I'm pretty sure that a new one is coming. My guess is that it will have the changes that the DW 5000 series got. I don't personally care for the improvements so won't be enough to make me get rid of my current gear.

Interesting. Curious to see this.

I have a very low standard for pedals. If its got a decent feel, sturdy and chain driven. I'll take it. I don't know what model mine is. I know it is a Pearl though.

Maybe they'll move the spring outside of the post so you can adjust it easily.
Perhaps make it more simple...

I messaged Bob Gatzen recently, he said DW was working on a new B.O.A. pedal system (originally under PDP). He said they expected prototypes back in August. I wonder if it's related.

That would be a hell of a lot of expensive engineering. The reasoning behind the 9000 is the floating rotor, which is basically a bearing inside another bearing for darn-near zero shaft resistance. The spring has to be on the inside because the shaft itself is not a part of the rotary action. Look at the remote side of a 9000 double pedal. Notice the huge bearing there? I'll bet there's another regular shaft bearing inside of it that helps replicate that minimal resistance feel despite all of the linkage.

Thomas Lang appears to be playing new prototype pedals in this here video:

No really great views of them, but from what you do see, they appear to be something new.

Well, I'm sure their engineering budget is right up there with their marketing budget because much of their 9000 stuff is over engineered (and I do use it). But I will agree with how buttery smooth the single pedal is. Heck, the beater will move for at least 18 seconds afer you step on it.

I wonder if the new pedal has a U joint shaft upgrade? Every one I've stepped on at the GC's had so much play. But I suppose everyone stomps on those things.

BTW- the DW9000 double pedal is on sale this month for $399 at MF. Stupid deal of the month on inside back page of the October Catalog.

There is an advertisement for the New Generation DW 9000 Pedals on the home page of Drummer World. It shows photos of the Easy adjust infinate cam, tri-pivot clamp and non skid surface. When you click on the ad it takes you to a DW products video page but it does not provide a video of the pedals......
