Default buzz...

does anyone else notice the buzz from powerstroke 3 bass drum heads?

I think you'll have to explain this a bit further. Is it a buzz, as though something very small is vibrating? Then your drum head is probably damaged.

He could be referring to the sound of the dampening ring vibrating against the main head. I've heard that before. But when I mount a new PS3 head, I crank it down a bit to get the collar settled on the drum, and then back off. I've never experienced a buzzing sound though, but I wouldn't doubt that it's there, it's just very inaudible.

Both batter and reso on my BD has those control rings and I've never heard any buzzing.

OP, if the rings seem to be causing the buzz, try some tape on 5-6 places around the edge, might help.

thanks guys. I am using a drumset kick as a concert bass drum for multi-percussion. I think the PS3 heads are just not good because when you play near the edge, they buzz.

Ah....the whole story! Yes - concert bass drum is a different animal. Fiberskyn 3 heads on both sides!
