Default Bonham vs Baker

Who do you think was best, John Bohnam (led zep) or Ginger Baker (cream)? Everyone seems to favour Bohnam, but I think that Baker steals the show with his crazy fuse of complicated polyrhythems and double bass. He took double bass drumming outside of metal. Plus, he was an amazing showman, even for the wrong reasons...seriously, in some of his old videos he looks like a corpse attatched to strings like a puppet. I don`t know why he is so obscure.

Anyway, who do you think is best?

Check out these videos of Baker first:

I actually saw both of them live.Cream and Blind Faith in the late 60's,and Zep in 69,and into the mid 70's.They were both great drummers. Each had their own distinct style and sound.

Neither one was a "better " player pound for pound than the other.I laugh every time I see the VS thing. It's not a match or a competition. You may care for one or the other's style, but that's certainly not "better " in anyway.

Given that we're still talking about them today, is testament to both of their immence skill and influence.

Ginger was best for Cream, Bonzo was best for Zeppelin. End of story. Anything else is comparing apples to kumquats.

There is no "best drummer", because someone can always do something nobody else can... even you.

Who cares? drumming isn't a competition.

What I want to know, is who would win a drinking contest when they were both in their prime?

(/end sarcasm)

Haha, I misread the title as Barker. That would be a whole different thread lol.
