Default Best mid-range hi-hats

I currently have Zildjian 14" ZBT rocks and they have a killer bell, but when I hit them closed they make a really annoying sound (might be my cheap stand, but i'm not sure). I want to upgrade them soon, but don't want to spend too much ($200 max). I know many suggest getting used new but I don't like buying online and I will give kijiji/craigslist a shot. But iyo, what are the best hats for under $200 (new)?

Also if you want, let me know what are the best hats in general.

Used Zildjian A hats for $100+ are the forum's reigning answer.

Here's what Guitar Center stores offer for $200 or less: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Hi-Hat-C...gc?o=1&ipp=100

If you're in the US, and you have any stores that have hi-hats you can try, I'd suggest you do that to see if there's any you like more than the others.

I use Zildjian New Beats. If you go used, they'd be easy to find in your price range.

I really like my Sabian XS20 14" Medium Hats. I used to have some AA 13" Fusion Hats, but I traded them in and have not missed at all since I got the XS20 hats. Check 'em out. Peace and goodwill.

For that kind of money you should be able to pick up some Zildjian A hi-hats second hand. A pair of 70s or 80s New Beats will go for around that kind of price. I see no reason to buy new unless the second hand market where you are is absolutely dire.

Hey, I found some hats used and need help deciding. The first are some 13" Sabian pro sonixs that come with a ludwig stand for $120 (price negotiable). The others are some A Zildjian 13" quick beats for $150. Which is better? Thanks!

I'm using a 16" B8 Pro medium crash by Sabian as a bottom and a 16" Pro series thin crash by Sabian as hi-hats. Everyone always asks me about them because they do sound awsome as hi-hats.

As far as a stand, I'm using a cheap SP stand myself. I used the cheap stand that came with ddrum's D2 kits for years before I upgraded. Compared to the stuff I need to replace the cheap hi-hat stand is fine.

For the most part, stands don't make a lot of different from what I can tell. The SP stand is sturdy and smooth. The only problem I have with it is I have it adjusted as high as it can go, and I really still need it to be a pinch higher. It's never broken and never let me down, and believe me, it's taken a beating from my large left foot.
