Default fast constant release for one foot lesson

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E92sl54Bu4w

check it out .. . this vid has some exercises for improving single foot speed using constant release.. anyone struggling with their feet should give it a look and see if it might help them.

constant 8th notes and gallops are possible at decent speeds with minimal effort

Cheers for that a very good / useful vid and excercises !!!!!!

Do you think the 1st stroke is created by
1/. The heel of your foot landing
2/. The ball and the heel landing at the same time OR
3/. The ball of your foot and then almost rocking back onto the heel letting you raise the ball / lift it away from the pedal to allow the re-bound of the beater before playing the toe stroke.

Any more in depth explanation of the actual stroke and how you feel it's executed much appreciated!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6hb0...3&feature=plcp .. that might help .

i think of it more like a dropping of the leg.., switching from a heel up position to heel down .. so to use your numbers .. somewhere between 2 and 3

Thanks for that, think where I've struggled is not allowing it to rebound enough from the downstoke and rushing to play the toe stroke.

if you can send me a vid on youtube of you attempting it I think i should hopefully be able to tell you what you are doing wrong or right .. as long as you have a good video angle and play it at various speeds

If you don't mind I really would appreciate, I've been trying for about 4 years to get a really good double kick, about 6 months ago one morning (when I tend to practice) I absolutely nailed it and could do literally anything I wanted with incredible power and very even notes.
I was able to do the same that evening at a band rehearsal but couldn't do it the next morning and never again since.
Stupidly I was so blown away by it I concentrated on what I was playing / able to play when I should have been concentrating on what technique I was using. I'd been experimenting with Constant Release, Heel Toe as per Jared's way and also slide to try and find one that suited me, I have a feeling that it was constact release but can't be sure. I can play it slowly and evenly as can the other methods but just can't seem to break through the speed barrier and get the BPM up.
I'll get some recording done at the weekend and buzz it over then if that's OK>

no prob .. just get a good angle so I can see from your knee down and I should be able to analyze your movement
