Default Really happy with my kits right now...

Let me admit up front that like alot of you, I'm a gear junky/whore. I love trying new gear almost as much as playing. That may seem like my priorities are wrong, but I've always been that way.

Anyway, I'm really super happy right now with my three kits, but of course, that doesn't mean I'll have them forever or won't start trading/selling/buying any second now. lol! I just felt like sharing what I think are three nice kits that do exactly what I need.

Kit 1 - Blue Fibes Rock Kit (Austin, TX era - I think 2006)

Description - Absolutely thunderous kit that sounds like a freight train coming down the track. The kick and the toms are just ridiculously good sounding to me. HUGE!

- Bass - 16x22
- Toms - 13, 16, 18

Kit 2 - Ludwig Classic Maples (I think 2006)

Description - I picked this kit up locally to have something different than my other kits. It sounds fantastic and the drums resonate freely. Tunes up easily and is a very versatile gigging kit, even though I've never gigged with it yet.

- Bass - 18x20
- Toms - 10, 12, 14, 16

Kit 3 - Corder USA (I think early '80s)

Description - Believe it or not, but this kit gets the most use. It's small and portable, looks great, and sounds killer. Probably the easiest bass drum to play out of my three kits. This kit was rewrapped and I'm told the bass and floor tom have close serial numbers, but the rack tom was added later. I didn't like the drastic size difference between the 10 and 16 tom, but it sounds great and isn't funky at all.

- Bass - 14x22
- Toms - 10, 16

PS - That Gretsch Catalina Jazz in the background is no longer around.

Kit 4 - Special Purpose Kit

Description - I use this for rehearsals and alot of gigs where we don't have alot of time to setup and teardown. The funny thing is that I probably enjoy playing this setup the most. I think I like the simplicity. This kit currently uses the Corder kick, but I can swap that out for any other bass drum (obviously.)

I have a meeting shortly, but I'll come back and post a list of my cymbals now too.

Basically, I'm wanting to show my cool stuff and say how happy I am with it. But I'm also wanting suggestions for cool toys I'm missing. ha ha ha

Nice group of photos, thanks for sharing. I am planning a similar update myself. The Fibes are a nice rarity.

Thanks man! The next thing on my list is to put a white reso head on the Ludwig kick with the vintage style Ludwig logo. Just kinda need to figure out how I'm going to do that (what head and where to buy the logo).

Other stuff is listed below...

Snares:
- Ludwig Brass Edition Supra 6.5x14"
- Slingerland Krupa Brass 6.5x14"
- Pacific Maple with Maple Hoops 5.5x14"
- Ludwig Classic Maple 5x14"

Rides:
- Zildjian K Ride 20"
- Paiste 2002 Ride 20"
- Dream Bliss Ride 20"

Hi-Hats:
- Paiste 2002 Sound Edge 14"
- Zildjian New Beat 14"

I'd like to add a wider variety of Paiste cymbals to my collection (2002, Giant Beat), but that stuff gets expensive really quickly. LOL

It's about time we have some eye candy here. Nice kits. Don't know anyone that has two Fibes in their collection. I'd suggest you need something vintage 1960s. Get to work :)

That 2006 Fibes is waaay cool. Drummer cat I knew had a kit just like that. Indeed, nice drums.

They're all nice, but I really like your 'special purpose' kit.

Too bad you can't get your hi-hats lower for it though.

Thanks again, folks! I was having pretty severe right arm pain from playing the hi-hat more with my arm than with my wrist. To help with that, I raised the hats a bit and have been focusing on playing with the wrist. I'm glad to say my pain is gone after a few months!

Gotta' go with whatever works. Especially when it comes to reducing pain.

Looks like it's really fun to play.

Nice drums. Those pictures make me miss my old Corder set. Peace and goodwill.

As I'm sure you know, this Corder kit is built like a tank! I love it. I do wish that I had a Corder bass drum head to show off the brand, but until I can figure out how to get that, I'll leave the Fibes on there. The Fibes logo looks cooler anyway. ha ha

Thanks! I should have a white head with the vintage Ludwig logo this week. That should make it look alot nicer, IMO.

This Ludwig kit seems like a great gigging kit.
