Default Evans G2 vs G Plus for tom batter heads

Hi,

I went to Evans website and listened to their sound clips. To my ear, G2 had more high-end and sustained a tad longer than G Plus.

That can't be right?!

G2 is 7mm x 2 = 14mm while G Plus is "only" 12mm. I expected G2 would dampen the high frequencies more.

Am I imagining things?

I've listened to those sound samples as well and I don't care for the Gplus sound. The G2 and G1 sound samples sound much better to my ears.
