The bigger drag is now on my snare-side hoop, one of the rods was pushed closer to the rim (a bend in) and I can no longer get a drum key on it easily. I swear, I've been playing this long and only NOW do I actually drop a snare. And it's mine. And it's a new one. Dang it! I guess I should be thankful nothing else was damaged. The shell didn't take a hit. I'll have to order new black chrome hoops for it as I don't think they could be bent back correctly. I'll try it once I put the new hoops on it, but I am bummed. |

I think that's called the New Car Law....get a new car and the first thing you do is get a dent or a ding in it. Must work for snares too :(

That sucks bro. Try using a pair of needle nose pliers on that lug.

here's one instance where the oft-used DW phrase "if you don't post pictures it didn't happen..." would work in your favor.
So...don't take or post any photos and maybe it'll magically heal itself :) |

I picked up my LM402 used off a guy. It had the stock heads on it so as I was reheading it a few days later, I noticed a flat spot on the reso hoop, and worse, the reso side of the shell. No doubt it was dropped somewhere along the line. I pondered how to get it back in round, which wouldn't be too hard given the right tools, but it isn't terribly out of round (1/4" maybe), and sounds great so I decided not to mess with it.

I guess I'll count my blessings that it wasn't worse. The drum still sounds find the way it is, and I managed to order replacement hoops today in the same black chrome that the drum came with. Fortunately, for a wood drum, the shell just wants to stay round, so no problems there.
You'd think I would've dropped the Copeland snare much sooner since it's so heavy, but I drop the lightest one....oh well. |

Worse comes to worse, you could take that lug off then toggle it about so you can unscrew it from the hoop? Sorry man. That sucks but I guess shit happens. It'll be fine. You'll be rockin again in no time!

Well Bo, at least the shell wasn't damaged. I think your guardian angel probably has a hernia after that one. Good luck with it. |

You know, now that I think about it, I dropped the little 13 snare because I've been carrying it around in a soft bag. The Copeland travels in a H&B Enduro case and you literally have to take the lid off and lift the drum out with two hands. With the little snare in the bag, I was being slick and pulling out the drum with one hand, and using the other hand to lift the bag away. In the interim, the drum slipped out of my of hand because I wasn't thinking. Perhaps I should get a hard case to remind me to use two hands everytime....
