Default Which are the type of pads are the quietest.

Hi all I need to purchase an electronic drum kit for the home, some kits I can try locally
but others are not stocked so local. So my question is which pads give off the most volume (unplugged) 1, solid pads, or the type that are on the Alesis DM10 Studio (not mesh)
also do the type that are on the DM10 suffer from hot spots like mesh pads.
Looking forward to your help.................Pete.

  1. Yamaha textured silicone is extremely quiet.
  2. Roland or other makes of mesh heads are fairly quiet.
  3. Rubber pads are less quiet.
  4. Hard rubber cymbals are a bit loud.
  5. Alesis mylar heads might be too loud for playing in an apartment at night.

NONE of the pads that are out there are completely quiet, so even if you get the most expensive ones out there you will still have to surpress the noise somehow if you want the kit to be completely quiet.

Even if you get the pads themselves to sounds very little you still need to isolate the resonance going on through the entire kit to the floor, specially the basspedals hitting the floor pad.

Investing in a sound proof carpet might do the trick.
Mind you, quieter pads doesn't make the drumkit entirely noise-proof
