Drummers who became singers.

How did you start this thread and not mention Phil Collins and Don Henley?

Those two are the most obvious.

And of course, Sully Erna (Godsmack) and Dave Grohl, both of whom both sang and played drums on their band's albums.

Deen Castronovo did a lot of lead singing with Journey during his tenure with the band.

There was much fan speculation at one point he would be named lead singer, though Deen himself didn't want to come out front.

There are a couple of studio cuts of him singing lead with Journey where he sounds more like Steve Perry than any of the various replacement singers ever did.

He also sang lead on his solo record, before his legal troubles.

Steven Tyler started as a drummer. It's known he has spend plenty of time telling Joey Krammer what to play.

Tommy Lee sang lead on his Methods of Mayhem project and solo albums.

Stevie Wonder, Nick D'Vigilio, Peter Criss, Dennis Wilson, Micky Dolenz (sorry), Karen Carpenter, Dave Grohl (Who sounds more like a carpenter when he drums)

Bobby Gillespie(Jesus and Mary Chain drummer to Primal Scream singer).

Roger Taylor from Queen and Robert Wyatt from Soft Machine!

Don't forget the late Teddy Pendergrass, who sang lead for Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, before launching a successful solo career.
