Hi Everybody
Took delivery of this lovely thing this morning. I have spent a very pleasant day tuning it.
Bass drum is '24x"18, top tom "13x9, floor tom "18x"16.
I am very impressed by the heads it came with although I do have a set of Aquarians to go on it later. Superkick two batter,Regulator reso, Super two batters and Classic clear reso's but I do believe I shall play the stockers for a while.
I also have a Mapex Blaster snare that should go very well. In the pic is a Yamaha "14x"6.5
chromed aluminium snare which is more than fine.
I had a Pro M in the same sizes before this and to be honest I am surprised what a step up this kit is.
Cymbals in the pic are Sabian Rod Morgenstein "21 Tri Top ride, HHX "17 and "20 X-plosion crashes( also have a "19 X-plosion crash but not in the pic) and HHX "15 X-Cellerator hats.
Life is sweet-))
Paul.

Beautiful...I look at my 22, 8, 10, 12, 14 16, and somedays wish it were 13 18, 24 Just for the lows. Make 'en rumble mate.

The sound of my Saturn kit is real special to me. I have 5 other kits and they all have a distinct personality.
I like all of my other kits very much but It is a moving feeling when I play and listen to the tone of my Saturns.

This same thought must be settling into your mind after a few hours of playing your new kit and experimenting.
You begin to get that good feeling that you have really stumbled onto something that is just a little bit different from the day to day.

Am I right?

Hi Everybody
I have dialled the kit right in and I am blown away.
The Saturns are as good as everyone say's.
I feel fantastic.
The bass drum is a sweet cannon. Can't wait to gig the gig later this month.
Paul.

Sweet, congrats.. Ya gotta love the look of the walnut. Is it the Maple/walnut or Birch/Walnut?

Re: Mapex Saturn new addition

Hi Folks
Couldn't resist this bad boy as it is the same finish as my new kit. A splendid maple and walnut confection. I have fitted an Aquarian coated batter, Classic clear snare head and a Puresound blaster snare wire.
What a fabulous sound the snare has, like a freaking gun shot. I am so looking forward to gigging this kit next Saturday.
Life is sweet.
Paul

Mapex Saturn and Sabians...my kind of kit. Peace and goodwill.

Stumbled on this kinda old thread... It appears the tom and snare have a matching finish, and the bass and floor tom have a matching, but different finish...? The first two appear as a "burst", and the other two, a "fade"...?

I always like the "virgin" bass drums. Great looking kit.
