Re: Introduce Yourself
real name? Adam Southward
age? 32
how long been playing? 19 years off and on (incorporating a 13 year solid stint as a bassist)... Realistically though, 3 years.
origin of user name? I once worked as a ring announcer for a British Wrestling promotion. They gave me the pseudonym 'Adam South' for no apparent reason and it's stuck ever since!
top 5 drummers? Stewart Copeland, Dominic Howard, Keith Moon, Gilson Lavis, Don Henley (only because, like me, he sings and plays!)
make of drumkit? Tama Superstar Hyperdrive (In Brushed Metallic Blue!!!).
make of cymbal? Stagg Double Hammered- Cheap, but give a pretty decent tone and sustain.
where do you practice? A little studio in Blackpool!
are you in a band/s? Yeah, called The Same Mistakes (
www.myspace.com/thesamemistakes2007)
covers or originals? Mostly original, a few covers thrown in.
what style of music? Hard to describe really... Modern Prog/Alternative/Rock about describes us. Someone very kindly labelled us 'Stadium Rock'. Not bad, considering there aren't any stadiums in Blackpool and we sure as hell have never played in one!!!
favourite take out food? Italian.
country? Don't really have one...
one really odd fact about yourself? Once had career advice from Jasmine St Claire (ex-porn actress). Not what you'd expect either...she told me to get into computers!
how did you start drumming? My dad was a drummer in the 60's. Always wanted to emulate him... At age 13 I got my first kit, and was in a band without a bassist. A guy came in as bass player who was actually a s*** hot drummer, much better than me at the time. Eventually I was ousted and shoved onto bass, which I played till about 28 full time (still play a bit today, write most of our bands songs with it!). When I moved into my own place 3 years ago, I decided to take up drums again and here I am now!
