Pro.Mark wood change?

I have been proudly using Pro.Mark 727 wood tip new generation millennium II sticks for many decades. After ordering a new pair off the Internet, I noticed a change. They are made of Shira Kashi oak. I'm wondering if this is a new replacement of my old stand by? Or are the old Japanese white oaks are still available?

shira kashi is just another name for japanese white oak.

Are you sure it's not a different type of oak or anything. I noticed this too and the newer models seem to keep a lighter colour after a lot of use whereas the older models went darker. Also the newer models seem to chip more. Might be my imagination?

Thank you for the info on this matter. We drummers don't like change!
