Mike Clark

If you can find it, try to pick up the 1983 June Modern Drummer. There's a terrific interview with Mike. I still have mine and re-read it from time to time. It's the 83 issue with Bill Bruford on the cover. I've had that issue for 23 years. :)

He's got a DVD thats about to come out so maybe that will give him the recognition he is due....

Update
DVD is out and I must say I'm totally blown away....

Not only are his funk chops on point but his Jazz is sounding very Elvin and Tony-ish...he's really gotten better...
I have an old VHS with him and Paul Jackson and you can really see how much he has elevated his drumming since then...

Anybody who is not familiar with him really should get this DVD...trust me YOU WILL NOT be dissapointed!

Quite possibly the funkiest drummer ever.

Does he ever venture out of the states? Or do I have to come and kidnap him?

Mike is a badass. I took several lessons from him in the mid-1980's at Drummer's Collective. I still have all the sheets he gave me. Learned SO much just from talking with him.

Mr. Clark had "some big shoes to fill" coming in after Harvey.
BUT......he was reel good...and did fine.
Check him out on "Actual Proof".......bad ass.
