The Bonham set thread

Player kit, finally finished. All shells are Bonham-era 3-ply Ludwigs with re-rings, just like they should be. Paul Montineri restored all the edges and recovered them to match.

Sizes: 10x14, 16x16, 16x18, 14x26. Heads are the correct Remos.

Since sound trumped originality on this one, I went ahead and put modern spurs on it and put the 10x14 on a RIMS mount.

And the sound? Well, it sounds like it should, and that's all that needs to be said.

That is a sweet set!!!! I really like silver sparkle, I almost got that finish instead of the green sparkle. Again very nice kit!

Idiophone that kit is absolutely stunning. One of the nicest I've seen on this board. Very classy and it must sound superb.it reminds me of Paicey's from "Made in Japan" Maybe I'm just partial to 26" Bass Drums in Silver Sparkle with that 70's vintage logo. I would love to see more pics with the cymbals included Paiste's I hope Awsome!

Here's my 'Bonham-inspired' setup -- with Giant Beats. Shortly after this pic was taken I replaced the 12x8" tom with a 13x9," and the 5" snare with a 6.5".

Thanks so much!

I don't have the correct cymbals, but I'm a studio engineer/drum tech rather than a player. I used to keep cymbals with my kits, but they kept getting cracked by bashers. Lesson learned....

Thanks again!

That Pork pie Bass is massive!

I like the finish too.

Here's my "Spirit Of Bonzo" Kit Hope you guys dig it as much as I do.

I had this Ludwig kit back in the 80's and it had a 14x28" kick and yes the gong is also a 28"

...it doesn't meet the prerequisite Bonzo sizes, but here is my one up two down.

I feel kind of Bonzo when I play it though.

Barry

Eye watering goodness!

It was always my contention that the vistalites could sound so much better with something besides a cs dot. Are you useing clear emperors?

Oh my what a good eye you have. Yes sir, I use clear emperors. I like the sound and feel. Plus with the clear Vistalites you don`t see that big black CS dot staring at you like a big black dot. haha. Thanks for looking, Alvis

What size gong is that? It looks like a 22? maybe?? I'm in the process of getting one.
Thanks, Buz

SAAAWWWEEEETTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's a 14x10 tom right..
The more I see the 14x10s, the more I want one. I wonder why Ludwig doesn't include that size right out the box on the standard Zep set.
