Let's see your Gretsch kits (saved the best for last!)

Thank you for the complments. I went through each post too and saw cool new ways to set up my cymbals and drums! Thank YOU gang for posting your awesome kits.
I have many more pics of past kits I've been fortunate enough to own, but just not on this computer!
Some are actually on printed film remember that stuff??

That snare looks so lonely. I'll be glad to keep it company.

Thanks...I love it! I've had about 6 COB drums from RB ones to SS ones and now this one which I plan to use lots.

My COB is a Vineyard drum with a few slight modern hardware upgrades like the rubber gaskets and nylon washers, and it sounds GREAT!
I'd love a matching Millennium Maple snare (like the one on eBay now) for it..maybe in a few months when I can justify it!

Neil.

Hi guys,
some absolutely stunning kits here, I never get enough of looking at them, I've been following this post for a long time before I decided to post.

As for the roto as opposed to a tom it's about the sound, I tune my bass drum up really high (A la Tony Williams "Nefertitti" time) When I tuned the tom to pitch it just didn't have the open sound I was looking for and was kind of interfering with the bass drum sound, Secondly for positioning (but this is much less important than the sound) is that I can put closer to the bass drum without my leg hitting the edge of the tom. All drums are easy to reach with no extended movement from my arms (very important for endurance and prevents muscle strain).

Cymbals and cymbal stacks:

HiHat side:
14" Bosphorus Master series HiHats
8" stagg DH China on top of a 12" dream Bliss Splash.

Right Side:
20" Bosphorus Master Series ride/Crash with rivets 1576 grams
Stacks;
These change dependent on the gig/recording
8" stagg splash on top of a 10" stagg splash (always use this)
14" Stagg/wuhan/dream china "Lion" by itself or stacked on to a Bosphorus 20" Trash Crash.
If not stacked
3rd cymbal will either be a Masterworks 18" thin crash/Ride (very damaged but sounds great), a "Dream Bliss 20" crash ride, or the Bosphorus Trash crash (depends entirely on the mood).

Hope that helps :)

...I recognize Ed Belfour, and Johnny Bauer. Is that other picture Frank Mahovolich ?

I was going to make a joke about having your drums so close to that much leaf-ro-bilia might cause them to choke, but I am an Oiler fan, and have no reason to gloat.

Nice drums by the way.

my kit:

22, 13, 16

22, 13, 16

22, 12, 16, (and 13 above the 16)

snare is 14x5 camphor,
am awaiting a 13 x 9 tom turned into a snare, with Yammaha vintage hoops, and gretsch lightning throw off and fin tail and lugs, (which by co-incidence is like the one 05ric has made.)
looky:

Cymbals:
18" HHX Evolution - with home made bells on top
19" AAX Sabian Explosion Crash
19" AAX Metal Crash (with plug hole chain drapes for sizzle)
14" HHX Hats,
20" Pro Sonix Ride (can't find anything else i like, so why change it?)

All very nice fellas! Here's a couple of my newest Gretsch kit!!

I am totally sold out for Gretsch!

posted on another thread, but here's me Annie project (like O5ris'. Came up with the idea independently, tho, promise)

Thanks to Mr Noonan for the fitting of the snare parts:

spec:
1963 13x9 Champagne sparkle Gretsch Tom
Key holder, badge, strainer and butt plate donated from a 70's COB
Key from a good good friend
12 lugs from ebay
2x Yamaha Wooden hoops
13" puresound snare

1 x happy camper (me)

sounds great when you really crank it up, very dry and crisp

Thanks to Mr Noonan for the fitting of the snare parts:

spec:
1963 6x9 Champagne sparkle Gretsch Tom

2x Yamaha Wooden hoops
13" puresound snare

That looks great, and the sound's really something else I bet. But I think there's something wrong with the specs. 6x9 tom? Not only is that a very small tom, it'd be hard to fit 13" snares on there.

...is that a new wrap on the tom to snare conversion??

Nah, the original Wrap. It didn't clean up too well, you could see where the lugs and fittings had been, but i dont mind that so much, at least the original wrap made it through.

yup, should defo be a 13x9, edited...
