Jim Fernandez

My Slingerland drum set was used in the movie "Honeymoon Hotel".

Dose that make it worth more than a few hundred dollars?

Here is a picture of it. Can you name all the people in the picture?

Shut up! :)

This just keeps getting better and better. Drawing a blank on the faces. One looks like Liz Taylor possibly. Is that Ethel Merman on the bass?

Jim, like others here, I missed this thread somehow (guess I don't chime into this section very much, & there's so many "stickies", they occupy half the first page before getting to new posts).

Anyhow, this is one of the most delightful posts ever placed on the forum IMHO. Just so rich in family splendour it's unreal, a true window on nearly 100 years of drumming history. I'm captivated by every detail, & feel privileged to see it. BTW, I think your son's playing in his punk band is superb!

Thank you so much Andy !!

(It is fun to watch my son play in the punk band, but it is pretty difficult to make it through a complete set of punk songs and survive the mosh pit.).

I understand it's tough to stay the full show if it's not your thing. It's not especially my thing either, but I have to say, your son's playing is amongst the very best I've heard in any punk band - anywhere. Such a solid player, & great choices too :)

I missed this post until now. As Pocket said, "Priceless."

And before I look up "Honeymoon Hotel" on IMDB, the only one I can positively guess is Jerry Lewis on drums.

Short pause...

I was way off. After looking up the movie cast & crew on IMDB...

My new guesses:

Robert Goulet on Guitar
Keenan Wynn on Trumpet
Anne Helm with cymbal mallet
Robert Morse on Drums
Nancy Kwan holding cowbell
(?) Man in brown sweater holding a drumstick.
Elvia Allman on Bass

Thank you JohnW.

Yes you are correct with your guess ! I never could figure out who the guy with the drum stick was. Maybe a producer or director.

Hey this is fun.

OK, here's another one for you. Who is the famous drummer on the left.
His T shirt says "Big Tiny Little Jazz Band".

My dad is on the right. (I digitally erased the famous drummers signature.)

Is it Wayne Newton?

It looks like Wayne Newton between dye jobs.

Is it Jack Sperling?

Is it Wayne Newton?

Actually I want to say Glenn Miller.

Larry:
OK so Jack Sperling looks a tiny bit like Wayne Newton. LOL

Get off this Wayne Newton thing already. Your creeping me out.
Wayne Newton is looking very strange these days.

And no it's not Glenn Miller. But I bet they knew each other.

Oh gosh, I'm sorry.

No it is not Bennie Goodman.

This guy was a jazz drummer, singer and bandleader in the 40's.

(Let me know if you have given up and I will tell you who he was.)
