Show Off Your DW Kit

Just bought a Roc n Soc Nitro throne too..same as yours without the back rest. Like it much better than the DW 9100 throne.

For how much do you think this classy little angel will run me...?
DW Jazz in Plain White laquer with gold hardware (regular true hoops, not die cast)
20" x 14", 10" x 7", 14" x 10"

Thanks, people!

My Performance kit just arrived last week. It's my first kit, and I'm super excited. It's set up in a room that used to be the nursery for my youngest son. That should explain the wall color and curtains. The pictures are a more recent addition to provide some inspiration. That photo of The Who is a signed Jim Marshall print. And the Hendrix photo is also a signed Jim Marshall print. That's Jimi at Monterey. And finally I've got a smiling Jerry Garcia to watch over me.

Nice kit, and I prefer my toms mounted as well. Did you add it yourself, or was it done professionally?

The kit came from DW that way. I think it's a really nice mount, and I like having that option. Thanks.

Here is another DW option when mounting toms. It's called a rail or banana mount. Other drum manufacturers have their version of this mount.

Yeah! I just purchased and received my second DW kit, here it is:

This is a 1999-2000 DW kit, so it's DW shells, there is no vertical grain visible on the inside of the drums, which I believe means these are standard shells and not VLT shells. It's a black finishply with chrome hardware. There are some cosmetic issues, as with any used kit. There is pedal rash on the hoops, and some discoloration on the kick drum hoop wood. The two rack toms have some definite snare rash and the kit in general has some kniks and dings that I would assume is because it was used as a live kit previously. A couple of the air vent grommets are also missing, but I ordered those replacement parts already. Obviously the heads need to be replaced, I already had some 24" kick heads, so those were already swapped, but the toms came with some beat up heads on them and will need to be replaced as well.

Here's a size rundown (diameter x depth):
12x10
13x11
14x14
16x16
24x16

For the price I paid, you can't shake a stick at this. I ended up getting this thing for less than a grand. This is just a product of looking and waiting for the right purchase. I had been looking for a decently priced DW to play live for several months, because I don't want to take my satin finish kit out to get dinged up. Totally stoked.

Felt like posting some updated photos of my kit and snares:

Hows that Chamberlin snare Jimbo?

It's a great drum with a very distinct sound. The shell is thin steel (1mm) with a powder-coating. It is sensitive, with an open and airy ring. I know this gonna sound weird, but there is something about the sound that reminds me of the sound you get when you pick up a shell of the beach and put it to your ear; almost "conchy".

Hey all, I wanted to share a few photos of my new-to-me black wrapped DW Collectors kit. I decided to opt out of setting this up on my rack, I just wanted to try something a little different. Anyway, here it is:

Beautiful kit, but man that looks like a long way from your rack tom to your floor tom.....

He's in Sweden. I don't think their MAP is the same as in the States... I think they pay a bit more than we do on the sale price.

I have friends in the US, they are usually helpful! :)
Also, I'm visiting New York next year. I'll certainly snag a nice drum/cymbal or two...'

Speaking of prices (just to show you how ridiculous it is, and this applies to almost every product).

If something's 2600 bucks, with taxes and everything, they translate it to 2600 SEK.
2600 USD = 19000 SEK
26000 = 3700 USD

...and then add retailer revenue (that's right?) and we're pretty much done.

Here's an updated pic of my DW's. I ditched the tom clamps, purchased two DW9900 tom stands, and 3 puppy bones. This is the end result. :)

Now I just need to decide if I want to order a custom reso head for my kick...I've attached a potential design. Let me know your thoughts. :)
