DIY drum mutes

The HQ, Vic Firth, etc., don't have the exact sizes I want so I thought I might have them made. I imagine they can't be too expensive - they are only round discs. I have a rubber gasket company right down the street from me and I was wondering what kind of rubber material is best for making drum mutes (the circular flat rubber ones that just lay on the drum head)? Are they neoprene, pure gum rubber? How thick?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

If you really wanna DIY and just be cheap, I've just thrown shirts on them in the past.
Just be sure you hit the inside, cause chances are you'll probably scuff the shirt a bit.
