Hey guys here is a set my boss just took in. A good friend of his passed away recently and he sold him these Gretch drums (all Jasper shells) they are in brand new condition, flawless. I also took some pics of Ludwigs new Epic X series drums which I thought were EXTREMELY nice for the price . They are walnut and maple and sound and look great.

If anyone is interested in purchasing any of the Gretch stuff he will break them up and what not.
The bass drums are 20 and 24 the toms start at 8 and go to 16 (the exact sizes I am not sure but the possible configs are unreal) the stuff is all Jasper shells (which are very desirable) but regardless great drum porn none the less.

Wow that's allot of drums. Do you have complete specs? The bass drums look huge. I love the finish.

Holy Guacamole! Dats alotta Drums! I have never seen a Gretsch kit from that era that is that large that didn't have concert toms, Or at least some concert toms.
The Luddys are stunning also!
Oh, Sorry, I forgot that that Gretsch badge ran through the nineties.
With a factory move from Booneville to DeQueen Arkansas by late-'81, the sixth Gretsch badge was... back?! Square Badge #2. Aside from the round badge, this is the most common of all Gretsch badges. Unlike SQB#1, it features a rich, darker sepia-tone finish and remained in regular use until the late-'90s. (Another footnote: With four badge changes in only two years, it is not unusual to find different badges within the same early-'80s stock Gretsch set! Remember, these were the pre-"custom" days when Gretsch still built drums "for stock" rather than "for order." The 1980 catalog cover demonstrates Baldwin's "grab-bag" approach - three different Gretsch badges are illustrated!) Source; The Gretsch Drum Website.
Do you know what year that the Gretsch's are?

I would love to have that 8" deep Gretsch snare. Can you PM me with a price??

If I could get that 8 inch Gretsch at a good price I would make it my last one. 8+)

The new Epic-X kit are they made in China(basic Epic series) or Taiwan(Centennials)?

That kit(Epic-X) is my fav. small 4-piece kit for the money right now.

Seriously do they sound as good as they look? They are beautiful.

I hit them a bit with the stock heads and they sounded pretty darn good. The drums are really nice and well built. With the right heads ont hem I think they would really sing. There really isn't anything like them on the market in that price range. They are maple with walnut ply's. Then they put birch reinforcement rings . They are fairly heavy shells. For the money (probably get into one for like 1,100 shell pack) they are awesome. Love the rail maount as well very sturdy.

Thanks for the info much appreciated, Yes i'm sure once you change the heads that will make a difference my guess is that they're made in Taiwan, Ludwig higher-end overseas drums seem to be made there.

Thanks again,

Beautiful drums! I'd love to know your further thoughts on the Epic X drums, once you've spent some time with them. They look incredible and they have to sound good, they're Ludwig drums!

Do you plan to throw some better heads on them and spend more time on them, soon?

Thanks!

Have you had a chance to see or have a go on the other epic x-over 4 piece with the 20x24 cannon of a kick? I think the setup is appropriately called 'arena'. I'd love to know how that sounds :)

They are actually made in china, really nice quality.

I actually don't own them they are at the store that I work at. I would like to own a set of them at some point so I don;t have to take my dws out as much. They are getting some wear ad tear from gigging.

I have not seen those yet they are a little different in shell composition. They are all walnut shells (VERY hard wood) so I am assuming that they will be very nice drums with some serious low end punch. I would ask the UNIX guy about walnut he I am sure can tell you a ot about its characteristics.
