Hi there,

ok, so I'll be in LA in august (10th - 24th) and I will stay at my aunt's in Beverly Hills.

I would like to see some of the music scene in LA and wanted to know if anybody from you can tell me where I could go to some sessions or stuff..

Or anything other that's worth to be seen! :)

Thanks in advance!
David

Yes, definitely go to the Baked Potato. I'm sure some of the guys will have some good ideas. I hardly go out anymore unless I'm playing. Then you got the Universal Walk up in Hollywood at Universal Studios. There are some cool clubs there, and the Sunset Strip (Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood) has some good clubs. Not sure what you're into...

You'd be welcome to stop by our studio too if we got anything going on at the time. But we're down in Orange County about 40 miles away.

I will try to get the car some evenings and drive around.
Could you give me some addresses maybe?

For example from your studio, would love to stop by!

Yes, check out who is playing at the Baked Potato.
Their are often name drummers making appearances in an otherwise very small club.

Check out Pro-Drum - A legend in Los Angeles music history.

And then check out the massive Guitar Center being next door to Sam Ash dueling drum shops on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood.

The Jazz Bakery no longer has a location, but they host interesting shows around town:

On the exact opposite side of music, if you like 80's hair metal and comedy, or just want to make fun of hair metal, Steel Panther plays every Monday night at the House of Blues on Sunet Blvd. Hilariously funny.

If you're staying in Beverly Hills ...... check out Venice Beach .... lots of weird and eye candy down there. And it's free. Might wanna leave, before the sun goes down, however.
Also might wanna check out Melrose (between Fairfax and La Brea). About 5 decades of culture/counterculture walk the streets. Lots of great shops. You can find everything from records to human bones (Necromance) to comix, to clothes, sold down there.
We have a free paper, called the LA Weekly .... get it, when you come to town. It will list just about every club/venue and who's playing there.

I will PM it to you when I get it. I don't know the actual address number right off hand. I just know how to get there.

v....gates. grab the L.A weekly magazine when you get into town, they have all the concerts, movies theatres and resturants listed, you'll find what you're looking for in there.
