Re: Lets see your studio pictures :)

That diamond electric drum you have for your TD9's snare is sexy. And almost a mirror image of my own. ;)

Eric, have you split a channel or two for the e-kit? That looks like more triggers than what is normally available. Cy5 + cowbell into aux channel? And the dual kd8's must require a splitter too...? And do you play open lefty? (rides above the hats)

From the recording sessions for our album last spring, at RadioStar Studios in California:

From an Al session, these can be heard on "If That Isn't Love" and "Stop Forwarding That Crap To Me" on Alpocalypse (drops June 21, 2011.)

Note the miking on the toms: just inside the bottom, not way up in the drum or from the top. This gives a full, rich sound, not the dry, bangy sound for which concert toms were given such a bad rep back in the day. And just an inch up or down makes a difference, the sweet spot is where you see them in the top pic.

Those toms and the kick sound fabulous. Only the 15" (3rd) tom needed a little EQ, the other toms were unretouched. That 14x24" is probably my favorite kick of all.

Good spot on the snare ;-)!

And you're right about the splitter (I'm a regular visitor of the vdrums.com forum and used instructions in a thread to create it). Tom1 is split to use the rim as a E cowbell and the kick input is split to use 2 kicks. It's possible to split the other inputs (tom 2, tom 3, aux and crash 2) as well and assign different sounds to the rims. Of course you loose the rim triggering on the toms and sensitivity is not as good as the the head trigger, but it's good as a cowbell, woodblock, etc.

And yeah: playing left handed and open handed at the same time...

Those professional studios look very cool, I hope we'll get a chance to do some recordings in one with my band someday.

OMG, I'm in love! I used to want an Octoplus kit SOOOOooooo bad. Now I'm not so interested in the double bass, but those concert toms...

Yes, that is quite a beautiful drum set, Bermuda.

I finally got a good pic of "my" studio. This was from early 2013 before I got my Tama kit. I have the white kit in this picture. The Tama is the house kit and belongs to the band leader.

Here's my Yamaha Live Custom (oak) set and Paiste cymbals in late February or early March 2014.
