Show off your TAMA !

the finish is much more detailed, that picture does not do justice. the red is like a sparkle, very cherry and the black looks like someone has painted black on then grabbed their fingers to run different streaks through it.

ofcorse it's laquered not a wrap. has hyperdrive toms (10x6.5, 12x7 if i recall correctly) with a 22x20 virgin bass drum, 16x14 floortom and a 14x5.5 snare. black nickle hardware, not chrome. where as standard b/b kits only come with chrome

bought one of these special edition tama starclassic b/b.

i have one of four in australia! ill take more pictures after i pay it off. ahhhhhhhh soo excited!

I have the same one, I also ordered an 8" tom.
It sounds great, but the snare is a little bit too loud.

Grtz Luc.

An old picture of my Rockstar. I have drastically changed my set up and will post more (current) pics later

What exactly is that finish? looks like if you replaced the silver in the Black Clouds and Silver Linings finish that Mike Portnoy had made for Dream Theater's last tour with red... and I'm drooling over it. Beautiful, I want one.

Just got these, heavyly gigged Superstars; toms are '83 12x8, 15x12 (was a mounted tom) bass drum 22x16 is '84. I've wanted this era Superstars since I was a kid. The cherry wine finish is pretty beat but they sound amazing. I've had the aluminum legged Tama Spartan stands since the early '80's. Kinda ugly but I love them, I'm looking for a matching snare stand...

i hope part of the change was taking all that duct tape off, those poor toms!

I did. The guy who recorded an album for my band put those on there. This guy was a professional (he recorded Boston's big album) and I couldn't believe he had done that to my toms when I came back from lunch. He convinced me it was "for the best"...Oh well, that's what I get for being a dumb kid at the time.

Well, here it is and it's just about coming up on the third year that I've had it. It's a Tama Starclassic full Bubinga 7 piece kit. This particular set of drums were manufactured in Japan before Tama started moving most of their manufacturing to China. The finish of the drums is called "scorched copper burst" and it is a lacquer finish. All hardware in the pictures is made by Tama, except the stick holders, they're made by Promark.

All the Cymbals are Zildjian A Customs and I added two since I shot these pictures.

The drums are:

22" x 18" bass drum
8" x 7" rack tom
10" x 8" rack tom
12" x 9" rack tom
14" x 12" floor tom
16" x 14" floor tom
14" x 5 1/2" snare

The cymbals on the picture are:

16" A Custom Crash
14" A Custom Hi Hats
20" Medium ride
18" A Custom Fast crash
12" A Custom splash
19" A Custom crash
20" Ping ride
18" A Custom Reso prototype China
9" Zildjian ZilBel
17" A custom crash

not pictured is a 15" A Custom crash to the left of the Hi Hats and a 10" A custom splash above the 12" rack tom.

Thanks for looking.

Where can I find tama tom mounts that audiotech have? I hate my Superstar with those spikes on it... looks so childish and tacky. "Hey lets put some spikes on it to make it look more cool!"... yeah right...

Beautiful kit btw audiotech! I like the two ride setup.

Here are my 86 Tama Crestars. I've had them since new, and they've seen a few stages and the backs of a few vans. Here are a few different setups with them.

4 piece I was using for a bit with a Ludwig snare.

Here as an offset 5 piece with a Tama Artwood 5x14 maple snare.

Great kit. My bro had a double kick similar kit (Rush fans here) back in the day. Once in a while I see someone selling a Superstar kit for a reasonable amount and my wallet gets itchy.

Nice vintage TAMA (we can call it vintage after 25 years) and welcome on DrummerWorld.

Have fun & enjoy your stay :)

Here's my Starclassic Hyper-Drive.
