Yes, it's finally here, set up and tuned up.
Best of all, I didn't have to sell my soul to get it. For those of you that followed my thread about the deal my wife came up with to let me get the kit...

She said I could go ahead and get it...no corny pictures. Sweet!

On to the kit...

It's a Ludwig Classic Maple in White Marine Pearl.
For those keeping score at home, the cymbals are 14" Zildjian K hats, a 19" Bosphorus Sizzle Ride (on loan from my drum teacher), 10" Zildjian A Fast Splash, 22" K Constantinople Bounce Ride, 17" A Custom crash, 20" K Light Flat Ride. As well as LP Black Beauty and Mambo cowbells. And a customized Gibraltar throne thanks to one of my cats.

Thanks.

BTW, I was so preoccupied with resizing my pictures that I forgot to mention the kit sizes...

12x8 rack tom, 14x14 floor tom, 20x14 kick drum, 14x5 snare.

Very beautiful!! I love it. Looks like my first kit, except mine was a Rogers. Sound nice?

Nice. I can't believe you didn't have to take the photo though. It's like she didn't get anything out of the deal.

Well, I think there's still a photo to be taken, but it should be a classy one. Or at least a normal one. So, yeah she didn't get much out of the deal. I want a picture of us anyway. Well she did get me to quit whining about a new kit. So she got that...

haha....awesome.

That doesn't work with my wife wife. She'll just whine back about needing more boots.

Very, very nice and one of my favorite finishes.

Congratulations.

Terrific! I have a WMP set myself and I'm thinking of adding a 14x14 FT and 14x18 BD to create a bop kit. How's the 14x20 sound? That would be an option for me, too.

Oh, I love the 20" kick! I came from a 22" and this new one is much punchier.

I'm not very tall, so the size fits well too. I can put the rack tom exactly where I want it. I think 20" is the most versatile kick size. You can tune it to work for just about any gig.

If you're buying an extra kick to make a bop kit, you could still look at an 18"; they're pretty fun to play. (I assume you have at least a 22" now.) If you're trying to make one kick drum work for everything, I would go 20".

Really nice, brady. I had the same kit in Champagne Sparkle...I'm an idiot for getting rid of it. There is nothing like that Classic Maple sound!

Have you tried better heads? Ludwig's coated tom heads aren't too shabby but I never could get the kick heads to sound good. Putting some Remos on mine took them to a whole new level.

Enjoy!

Nice drum porn, Brady. Love those old-style four piece kits.

I'm sure your wife will be happier with a classic photo too. Win win!

DED, ankle boots are pretty cool :)

I switched all the heads to Aquarian Modern Vintage. I did leave the original resos intact though. On the kick I kept both original heads. One felt strip on the reso and two on the batter side helped me dial it in to pretty much where I wanted it.
