Let's see your Gretsch kits (saved the best for last!)

Here she is

Been workin on this set for a while now... finally coming together nicely.

It's a Gretsch Renown Maple in Silver Slate Sparkle
22x20 Bass Drum: Evans EQ3 Batter/Evans Retro Screen Front
12x9 Rack Tom: Evans G2 Clear Batter/G1 Clear Reso
16x16 Floor Tom: Evans G2 Clear Batter/G1 Clear Reso
Ludwig Black Magic 14x6.5 Steel Snare: Evans Power Center/Hazy 300
Paiste 18" Signature Power Crash
Paiste 21" Signature Dry Heavy Ride
Paiste 13" Signature Sound Edge Hats
Pearl Eliminator Doubles
All other hardware Pearl

My next additions are gonna be a 10x8 Rack Tom, a 14x14 Floor Tom (I like the 2 up/2 down config). Then eventually an 18" and 16" full crash, 20" thin china, and some splashes, all paiste signatures so it'll be plenty wallet draining :p

Also I wanna get some opinions...

If I got the 10 and 14" toms in Inca Gold Sparkle (found some on eBay) it would be quite a bit cheaper for me than to special order them in Silver Slate. Do you think that would look bad haha? Color isn't a HUGE deal to me... I'm about sound, but I don't want something that looks horrible. I think it might look cool it would be alternating gold/silver/gold/silver, and both are sparkle finishes.

Peace, Will

What about getting the matching ones one at a time? I know I would be ultimately be happier with matching toms even if it cost more and took longer to acquire.

Loads of really great looking Gretsch sets, Hannah Ford's kit is pretty awsome! I used to have a Gretsch Renown maple in cherry burst finish and it looked great. Always impressed by what Gretsch comes out with.

Now THAT is sweet! Verry nice! Jasper shells?
I don't really know what shells they are. The kit was originally a seven piece with four concert toms. I added reso heads to the toms a few years ago.
I like the 9x13 rack tom the best so I play it as a 4 piece.
This kit was made right before Wurlitzer bought Gretsch so the serial numbers are blacked out. Wurlitzer didn't want to warranty any drums that were in stock when they bought Gretsch so they blacked out the numbers on the tags inside the shells.
The shells are silver sealed inside with no re-rings. The bearing edges are rounded.
The outer shell is Rosewood finish. The color has darkened over the years.
When I drilled the shells for the reso lugs the wood was dark. I assume that it is mahogany.

I bought the kit new. We didn't think about things like Jasper shells and wood type back then.

Whatever the shells are made from.. they are nicey-nice!
