Carvin mics..

I bought my D44 kick drum mic Sept, 2004. Cost was $39.99 (on sale).
 
I like it just fine. It certainly won't rival a Sennheiser (or any top dollar mic) but for home recording, practice and demo tapes, it works fine. As the D44 is a dedicated kick drum mic, it's better than your standard Sure 57/58 (used for kick drum). Pretty much the whole Carvin line (I believe) competes against the SM 57/58's (the "old" standby).
