Everyone has something they like. I like aquarian snare batters. The studio-x is one of my favorites on my metal snares.

If I were tuning that drum, I would start with an Evans HD Dry Level 360. On steel, I like to accentuate the dry aspect. I use wooden snares for warmer and more resonant.
