Mine is a mid 60's no-name snare and I know that it needs new heads.

p.s. I have cleaned it since I took the picture.

I have quit a few, but these are probably my most used.

Tama Starclassic full Bubinga 14" x 5 1/2" with Evans Power Center Reverse Dot batter head and Evans Hazy 300 resonant head..

DW Classic 14" x 5" with magnetic throw-off and three position butt plate with Mahogany/poplar shells and re-ring. The heads are DW (Remo) Ambassador batter head with DW (Remo) Ambassador Hazy resonant head.

And if you can spot it, since I don't have a close-up, a Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute 14" x 5 1/2" with Evans Power Center Reverse Dot batter head and Evans Hazy 300 resonant head.

Here are my two workhorses. I bought the Musashi from Gruntersdad a while back, and it has been my mainstay, but I've been using the Big Black Porkpie quite a bit lately. The jury is still out on it though...

I run two snares. The first is a DW 14x5 solid maple with my custom lacquer burst over Mapa Burl. The second is a Dunnett 13x6.5 titanium polished with a Copper Candy lacquer.

Up until recently, this was the workhorse:

Dixon 14" x 4" (iirc) Amazing sound, for what ended up being a little over AUD $200 for the snare + a Fyberskyn head.

New workhorse is this here fella:

Sonor Benny Greb Signature Snare - Scandanavian Beech, 13" x 5.75"

Lovely snare, got it for much less than retail too. (can't complain about that!)

That Beech is beautiful, too bad they choose to cover up so much of the wood with those double lugs, I think it would look cleaner, be easier to carry and probably be a little more resonant if they would of used a double ended single casing. Although the resonance issue doesn't mean all that much for a snare. Still a beaut though, congrats.

Yeah, I have thought it was a little cluttered, but the fact that they've managed to get the company logo used as the lugs makes up for it. In the end, I have a cool snare that I'm very much proud of owning, and it sounds great. :D

My current "Workhorse" snare is my 14" Mapex Meridian Maple in Root Beer Burst.
Heads are Remo Diplomat resonant and a VERY beat up Remo Ambassador. however, it sounds awesome! I can get almost any sound I want and I'm pretty sure I can live with the snare for along time and it's pretty awesome!
I can use it until I get a Black Panther Fastback, Sledgehammer or a Blaster or even a Gretsch Maple Woodhooped snare. Saying that, I could always just get Maple rims on my snare ;)

Check it out below! (and a bonus pictures of me looking weird).
