He isn't on the drummers thread and I know he deserves to be.

He was/is the drummer for the U.K. rock group UFO for the better part of it's 40 + year career. I belive he is amoung the many underrated/unsung rock drummers of his time. He got his gig drumming with freinds Phil Mogg and Pete Way in 1969 and has been doing it ever since. He is a quite guy, I've never heard him do solos or anything outside of serving the song he just holds the fort down and locks in with bassist Pete Way. He is not a technition of sorts but he comes up with some creative fills and his grooves always are catchy like in Rock Bottom, Give Her The Gun, Shoot Shoot . You can hear some of his best playing on the 'Strangers in The Night" live album as well as the studio albums he did (check out all of UFO's stuff). His gear was Ludwig in the 70's then sometime in the 80s he switched to Premeir drums. He loved big kits LOL

Here he is in the early days playing a sweet Ludwig set up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KRDE-CzRhU

A nice example of his style later on with a bigger kit, enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHF7qMhBf4Y&playnext=1&list=PL3719EBC9076AD37E

Here he is again playing a kick butt white double bass Ludwig set. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PICJ3aRN4-o

I agree, and he was a big influence on me, when I started out "rock drumming" .....

Andy is one of the great underated 70's rock drummers. One of my favorites early on. I consider Strangers In The Night to be the greatest Live Hard Rock Album of all time. I'm glad Yopps has taken the time to honor him with this thread. I'm also glad he has returned as the drummer in UFO.

Yeah he finally gets back with UFO and then Pete Way gets diagnosis liver cancer and has to leave.

And I agree Strangers is phenomenal.

Sit back and listen to how well Andy is playing on that record, his grooves/beats with bassist Pete Way are damn near clockwork. He reminds me almost of the Bohnam + JPJones model actually.

This thread has not been touched in a long time I see.

Andy Parker and U.F.O. are great. I just got their latest 'Conspiracy of Stars' and his drumming is better than in previous albums.

My first kit was a chromed kit a la Andy Parker (and Roger Taylor)..
