What book are you currently reading?

I didn’t see a post anywhere on the first page for this or when I searched, so I figured I would start a thread of my own!

What book are you currently reading? Or what was the most recent book that you have read? I myself have just started reading a book called Drylor The First Artifact. It is an Action/Fantasy book created by Ryan Tomasella. So far it is actually damn good, it is a story about a man that suffers amnesia and struggles to regain his memory. As his memory starts to come back to him he realizes that his brother is an evil S.o.b and he makes it his mission to stop him.

It seems like a fairly generic story line but the author makes it his own. There are tons of twists and turns in the story (mainly when the main character thinks he remembers something from his past he realizes that it was only an illusion that his brother wanted him to think was true.) I must say I am really impressed with this book, then again I read almost anything that involved sword and sorcery. Below is the cover of the book and what the back of the book reads.

When a man wakes up inside a cage that is being carried through
an underground city, he has no idea where he is or what has
happened to him. As Von, a victim of amnesia, is taken to a jail
cell to await his fate amongst elves, humans, dwarfs, gnomes, and
halflings, he is told he is a member of the Royal Guard of Genisus.
It is not long before he is transported to the palace where he
meets an impatient king who eventually returns him to his jail
cell while deciding his destiny.

As Von’s memory slowly returns, he discovers that he is the only
one who can protect Drylor—a world that abandoned him—
from its greatest evil, his own brother. Through his journey to the
truth, Von meets an unlikely group of friends who are willing
to sacrifice everything to help him stop his brother Scarlet
from annihilating the only world they have ever known.

As Von’s past becomes clear and reveals his future, he soon
realizes the only way he can end his brother’s heartless
massacres is to find him and kill him.

I just finished "The China Study" and am changing my diet accordingly. Tonight, I'm going to pick up Malcolm Gladwell's book "What the Dog Saw". My wife just read it and said it was good, but different from his previous books (which I've read all of as well--I'm a fan).

The last fiction book I read was probably 'The Wasp Factory' by Iain Banks. I've read it a few times - it's probably my favourite. I used to be an absolutely prodigious reader when I was younger and I really should get back into it. I have plenty to read.

Just started a book called "Lucifer's Hammer", which apparently is one of the best apocalypse books ever so I'm kind of excited lol

I just finished Ender's Game, which has to be one of the best books I have ever read, although I have a sweet spot for sci-fi books :)

Life - by Keith Richards.

Lovin' it.....almost done. One of my most admired musical heroes and it's been great to get a glimpse of his life straight from the horses mouth.......as disjointed a life as it's been.

Just got finished with steven hawking's, "A Briefer Histoty of Time". Wonderful book, really eye opening to just how complicated the world and the universe are.

As for fiction, The Red Badge of Courage remains one of my favorites. Just started reading "Freedom" by John Franzen, heard it was great, and my mother actually went to high school with him, and my aunt dated him!

Just finished Dune again for more times than I can remember, I tend to read it at least every couple years. Started the second book but immediately get tired of the dogma in the rest of the series.

This year I read:

Similarion

The Hobbit

All three Lord of the Rings

Now I'm on Children of Hurin

Began to read - Erwin Römmel, Afrikakorps / the desert fox -

My friend told me that Fool Moon is superb for reading. Fool Moon by Jim Butcher is my favourite book and I am reading now this book. It has great story. Author's imagination is extraordinary. I really enjoy with It.

Right now I'm reading "Modern School for the Snare Drummer" by Morris Goldenberg. The plot is kinda boring actually. LOL. :)

Now seriously, it's been a while since I last read a real book. :( Waking up 6 AM and getting home around 7 PM every day exhausted from work, college and the daily 2-hour commute really killed my reading habit. I hope I finish this "stage" I'm living soon, 'cause it sucks.

Sorry for using you as therapy, haha.

Cheers.

Afro Cuban : Funkifying The Clave
or something. It's the one with Robbie Ameen. Great book! Makes it interesting. Also reading Buddy Rich's snare drum rudiments, started using loads of cool rhythms on the hi-hats since I got it. In my band there's a song we have. Used to play it 4/8
now I play it in a weird broken up sixteenths pattern.

It's let
1 2 3+4+ 1+2+3e+a4e+a with a few drags and open high hats aswell as toms. Pretty nifty! Need to record it one day to show you guys what it sounds like, it's like Danny Carey went into a pop-punk band.

I haven't been in a reading mood for like 2 years... last thing I read was the Song of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones, etc.). I guess I'm just waiting for the next one.

Just finished World War Z. I heard there will be a movie and am looking forward to it. Next up is Eddie Trunk's Essential Hard Rock And Heavy Metal.

Absolutely love George Martin. I'm currently re-reading A Game of Thrones to refresh my memory for the show. You watching the show?

I'm also reading The Stuff of Thought by Steven Pinker. Great book, it's about how language influences our thought and what is says about the language OF thought, and how they're different.
