Tama hold-tight washers?

I like nylon washers better than metal washers; I find that they hold just about any kind of tuning better than metal washers do. The only issue I have with them is aesthetic--I just like the look of metal better. I know, that's pretty lame, but nevertheless, I thought maybe these hold tight washers are the best of both worlds. Does anyone here use them? Do they hold tension pretty well? Are they just as tough as nylons?

Also, has Tama discontinued them? I can't seem to find them on Musician's Friend or other online music stores. So far, I've only seen them on sites like Amazon and Ebay.

Those look like basic trim washers, I bet Ace hardware would have those or real close for less. No experience with them but curious now.

They're supposed to have rubber inserts inside the cupped metal washers. The inserts are supposed to keep the tension rods from loosening, which makes sense, I guess. But then, do they work as advertised? Or should I just stick with nylon washers?

I have not had a chance to get to Ace to see if they have anything like it, I did think of metal roofing washers http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stainless-S...A%2BFICS%2BUFI&otn=21&pmod=170801418706&ps=54

They did have some on Ebay

Kind of high for washers, maybe thats why Tama discontinued them. I don't have a problem with nylon, but if your really curious there is only one thing to do.. Good luck

You could try Hold-Tight tension rods, they have a nylon insert that is supposed to help prevent detuning. Last I checked, though, they were pretty expensive, definitely moreso than that eBay listing for the washers. You could also check out GPI's "Lockerz" product. I have never had problems with detuning with my snare (which has non-insert threads and nylon washers) or, unhelpfully, with my Superstars (which have insert threads and only metal washers[though I might actually with the bass drum]). HD Drums also make some sort of cool sleeved nylon washers in a wide variety of colors, but they probably aren't your solution if you already dislike black & white ones.
