How does tape affect cross stick?

I am thinking of getting some sort of tape for my sticks, it seems as thouh i can only hold onto the stick 100% when I have lotion on or have very hot hands. Getting tape might stop this. But I'm wondering whether it affects cross sticking the snare? Thats a big part of my solos, jazz playing etc. And I don't wanna have to use the other end of the stick

It will dampen the stick and you will not get the sharp sound when the tape hits the rim.
I have played Zildjian dipped sticks and thats how I know.

I usually play with dipped or taped sticks and if i ever do a cross stick, I switch one of those sticks w/ a pair of nude sticks. I hate the dampened sound a dip/ taped stick gives on a cross stick. HATE IT.

Try Dr Zogg' SexWax, Gorilla Snot or other drumstick wax. This will help with grip without affecting cross sticking or other sounds.
