Hello, I have a Yamaha Dtxpress iii special and was wondering if it's possible to add on more pads? I've seen many large electronic kits but an not sure how it is done. Any help would be appreciated. Larry

Hi,

The crash 2 input can split with a stereo (Female 1/4 inch L/R mono to male 1/4 inch stereo) splitter cable. This allows for two single zone pads to be connected into to this input. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. If I use the splitter cable, won't I lose the option of the crash 2 cymbal? Can I use that splitter to add another cymbal versus a drum pad?

Thanks Specialist. So I would plug the slplitter in to the 9/10 port plug the original #2 cymbal pad in and whatever pad I want to add into the other end of the splitter? One more question for you. I've seen some pretty large DtXpress III kits, how do they add all of the other pads on with the limited ports on the module? Do they add another module to their kit and link the two?

Yes plug the splitter into input 9/10 then plug in the original to the left input of the splitter. This will leave the right input of the splitter for the additional cymbal or drum pad. For the large DTXpress III kits users may be using 2 modules for the addition pads. Also they are probably daisy chaining the output of one module into the Aux input put of the other one.

That's what I thought. One more question and I promise I won't bug you anymore. Today, anyway. Lol. What would the output on the kick pedal housing be used for?

The KP65 has a built in splitter to split the kick with another pad in a module such as the new DTX502. With the DTXpress III this will allow for 2 KP65 towers for a double kick.
