Greg Bissonette leaves Mapex

I haven't seen this anywhere on DW, but it is doing the rounds on other drum forums, Greg Bissonette has amicably left Mapex, and according to some posts will be joining Dixon drums. (I have absolutely no confirmation of this, merely reporting on what I have read elsewhere).

I saw on Mapex's fb feed they posted that Greg was leaving them.
Which was odd in that I have never seen a company announce an endorser has left.

Dixon? I find that a bit hard to believe.

Greg's FB feed doesn't say anything yet.

Actually, Dixon is "under new management" as it were, and are making fine pro-line drums now. Hardware refinement, etc. If Greg went with them I'm sure he has a good situation in order. As i recall when Greg went with Mapex they were not a major player yet. Maybe he's into going with the underdogs and helping them build.

Then we should see the Rise of Dixon ;)

Today's it's official

So I listened to the (very eq'ed) video, and you know what? Dixon Drums sound just like other drums when put under studio conditions. I think they've done well to forge a relationship with an artist of Gregg's caliber, and he's made it a point to work with up-and-coming drum companies. Mapex was in its infancy when he endorsed them, and look at them now. I think we're going to see and hear a lot from Dixon in the coming years, if this development is any indicator.
